Too late now. His value is at all time low.

Good to see the Rockets growing tired of this mental scrub.....even resorting to a bad method.

Tate/Holiday/KPJ’s contract for Gordon Hayward works.

Adding draft compensation for a mediocre vet to add to a <30 win is stupid enough for me to believe with this incompetent organization. Stone is truly an idiot.

Not understanding this... how can this possibly benefit the Rockets? Some team is going to hand over even their smallest asset for a woman-beating, food-throwing, quitting time-bomb?

On the other hand, because his value is negative and the Rockets won't get an asset in return, why would the Rockets burn a single asset trading him instead of cutting him?

Only $17M of his contract is guaranteed. Just eat it. Should've never signed it you dumpster-diving contender-destroying self-muralizing ownership family.

Toss radioactive object from hand immediately.

A back up big or SG with 2 or 3 yrs on their contract would be ideal. Obviously would be to a team wanting to shed payroll. Porter would be gone and then waived by whoever. Works for both sides.

We’re never going to stop being the Florida representation of an NBA team until Stone is gone

Heard we’re offering a first and one of our seconds. Stone should have been fired after dumping KMJ for zippo.

Rockets try not to be a joke challenge: impossible

The Houston Rockets are working to trade guard Kevin Porter Jr. in the wake of his charges of felony assault and strangulation due to an alleged attack on his girlfriend, league sources tell The Athletic.

Those sources say the Rockets have contacted multiple teams offering draft compensation as incentive to receive Porter, who has the 2023-24 season slated for $15.9 million in Year 1 of a four-year, $82.5 million deal, with three non-guaranteed years. In deal scenarios using Porter’s contract, the Rockets would be using his salary to target a player under contract who can play immediately and help the team, league sources said.

The Rockets are keeping all options open with the future of Porter, a league source said.

With Houston’s biggest offseason acquisitions in place, signing Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks in free agency and drafting Amen Thompson with the No. 4 pick in June’s draft, the Rockets are attempting to be far more competitive next season.

The NBA launched an investigation into Porter following an alleged incident Monday at a New York City hotel where his girlfriend suffered a fractured neck vertebra and a cut above her right eye.

Porter was released Tuesday on $75,000 bail and is due back in court in Manhattan on Oct. 16.

The guard is not expected to attend Rockets’ training camp in early October, league sources say.

Pretty sure the new team would cut him immediately and would only do it for the pick. The Rockets probably are trying more to preserve Porter's contract value for trade purposes than Porter's value as a player.

It's not about being smart it's about being HEINOUS!!! Using a disgusting criminal whose had multiple chances to "game the system" isn't clever it's just gross and unethical.

Cutting him right away sends the message you are disgusted in the player and the stench he's giving away. Perception often times is reality.

This tells me the Rockets do not want to pay him 15M+ and that the Rockets would rather replace him with a player who can provide depth on the roster and/or be a salary filler for a future trade. Worth the try I guess...

By the way, Rockets can't cut him yet bc of the ongoing investigation...

I am gladly leading the fire Stone brigade but this isn’t it. People outraged are confused. No team is trading for Porter the player, they are trading for Porter the expiring contract and then waiving him. So we are either looking for a team to salary dump to us a marginally useful but overpaid player on multiple years, or if we attach picks then it is for a legit good player who’s value is equal to the draft compensation + $16m in dead money.

Saw some reporters saying this on Twitter, comparing it to Meyers Leonard trade-to-waive.

It's the hypocrisy of declaring a culture reset as a priority and then the FO acting down right dirty and disgusting.

Ask the victim or better yet Lucas, who is part of Rox team, if being clever and finding value makes it better. I mean if I'm Lucas how can I feel part of a team who has my back honestly. I hate to be dramatic but this move is just so unnecessary.

Putting a women in hospital has to be a year suspension and that is the only garunteed part of the contract.
