All the times so many of y’all have defended him and said he was young and bla bla bla. We should have cut him when he walked out at halftime. The guy is a bad seed. Talented but not a good person. Told y’all.

Blame Silas. At least we have 7 million to spend elsewhere.

Oh $hit, she's John Lucas' Goddaughter?? Now you've really screwed the pooch. I would not want that guy mad at me. He's definitely out of the league now, no exceptions. And to think Lucas fought to help turn KPJ's career around. That bridge is burned to the ground now.

Thinking a little more about it, you're right about the WNBA part. The hate KPJ is going to have from every one of those women and the message it would send to them if the NBA didn't kick him out of the league entirely would be a slap across the face of every woman in that league. I think the NBA would tarnish its own reputation by not perma-banning him. BIG decision looking ahead. If he gets banned permanently what would that say about the softer punishment they gave Bridges? If they don't permanently ban him, what does that say about their respect for women and their respect for the women of the WNBA. League has a bit of a conundrum.

KPJ never got a KPJ-is-the-Rockets'-franchise-player thread. Someone should start one while there's still time ;)

When a contract is voided does the team get that cap space back? If so what would that look like for us?

He’ll be suspended (how long TBD) but odds the Rockets actually keep him?

Yeah, we know Silas liked him but Stone did too. (Seattle guys) And what about Fertitta?

Fertitta said that anybody who doesn't think Udoka deserves a second chance is "not a good Christian person." Fertitta said the positive input from his ex-wife, Paige, and Rockets president Gretchen Sheirr was an important factor in the decision to hire Udoka.

"We're a forgiving world, and anybody that isn't forgiving, then shame on them," Fertitta said.
Does Kevin deserve a 2nd chance? Or were the Rockets already his 2nd chance? If you don’t forgive Kevin, are you not a good Christian? Is Tilman a good Christian? Does Kevin deserve forgiveness? Or is this a bridge too far crossed (for them), he gone?

If he’s cut, will another team sign him?

Teams talk tough, “We have a zero tolerance policy!” Some stand by it. Others “zero tolerance” means one strike. They’re kinda like DD. “Yeah but that first incident didn’t happen here so let’s sign him and if something happens again, he’s gone.”

He’s not a star but he’s not Daishen Nix either. Teams take chances on guys they think can help them.

Will you still watch and be a fan if he remains on the team?

When the Astros acquired Roberto Osuna, they were blasted and many fans declared they were done with the Astros and could no longer root for them.

He requested a trade and wasn’t coming back but if Deshaun Watson came back, they were done. They could no longer root for the Texans.

Will you continue rooting for the Rockets if Kevin Porter Jr. remains a Rocket?

On June 29, 2022, Bridges was arrested in Los Angeles for felony domestic violence and was released on $130,000 bond. He allegedly assaulted Mychelle Johnson in front of their two children. According to Johnson's hospital report which she posted to Instagram, she was an "adult victim of abuse by male partner" which included assault by strangulation, brain concussion, closed fracture of nasal bone, contusion of rib, multiple bruises, and a neck muscle strain. On July 19, Bridges was charged with one felony count of injuring a child's parent and two felony counts of child abuse. The following day, he pled not guilty to all three charges at his arraignment. On November 3, he pled no contest to the felony domestic charge and was sentenced to three years of probation. The other two charges were dismissed.

During his three-year probation, Bridges, 24, will be required to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and 52 weeks of parenting classes, serve 100 hours of community service and undergo weekly narcotics testing with mar1juana allowed only if there is a valid doctor's prescription. He cannot own any guns, ammunition or any weapons. He also will have to pay a restitution fine of $300 (with a restitution hearing scheduled for Jan. 13) and a domestic violence fine of $500 and obey the terms of a 10-year protective order, staying 100 yards away from and having no contact with the woman. Bridges and the woman maintain custody over their two children, and any visitation or exchange of children must be done peacefully and through a neutral third party.

That got 30 games. Hornets welcomed him back.

[2018] Willie Reed suspended 6 games.

Willie Reed was jailed Sunday in Miami on a battery charge.

His wife told police that he dragged her across the apartment while wrestling for a purse and later pulled her hair and grabbed her by the wrist during an argument Saturday night, according to the police report.

Reed's wife told police the argument started when she told her husband she wanted a divorce, according to the report. She said she was knocked to the ground while struggling over her purse and dragged around the apartment until the strap broke. She also alleged Reed tore her shirt as she went to the lobby of the apartment building to notify the concierge, then returned to get her two children.

When the woman picked up her youngest son and started to exit the apartment again, she told police that Reed grabbed her by the hair to take the child back, then grabbed her left wrist and twisted her arm to get her to the ground. She said she responded by hitting Reed in the head with a glass candle.

Reed told police that he never put his hands on his wife, but he did acknowledge grabbing her shirt and her purse, according to the police report. He also told police that he touched his wife as she was getting on the elevator.

Police said Reed's wife had red marks on her left wrist, right biceps, back and chest.

[2016] Darren Collison was suspended 8 games.

Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison pleaded guilty Friday to misdemeanor domestic battery from a May incident and issued a statement apologizing to a woman he said he has known and loved since high school.

Collison, 29, must serve 20 days in jail, but he may be allowed to participate in an alternative sentencing program, according to the Placer County district attorney's office. He must perform 20 hours of community service and a yearlong program to deter domestic violence as part of a three-year sentence of informal probation, The Sacramento Bee reported.

Placer County sheriff's deputies said they arrested Collison after they responded to a report of a woman being assaulted inside a home and found her visibly injured.

He was initially charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic violence causing injury and one of domestic battery, along with one count of driving on a suspended license from a separate incident.

"Words cannot describe the feelings and regret that I have been experiencing the last few months," Collison said in a statement released by the Kings. "This is far from who I am as a person and not something I am proud of.... I have apologized to my beautiful wife that I have known and loved since high school."

[2014] Jeff Taylor suspended 24 games.

On Sept. 25, officers from the East Lansing (Michigan) Police Department arrested Taylor at a Marriott hotel. The arrest followed a report by hotel guests and staff that Taylor violently pushed a woman, assaulted a security officer and damaged a hotel room door.

The NBA’s investigation, which included interviews with Taylor, Taylor’s victim and key witnesses, revealed that the confrontation stemmed from a screaming argument between an inebriated Taylor and a woman described as his girlfriend. During the argument, Taylor aggressively shoved the woman from his hotel room and into the hallway. The shove was so hard that it propelled her into the door of the room across the hallway. Although she declined medical treatment, she suffered visible injuries to her head and arm.

Taylor faced three criminal charges under Michigan law, the most significant being misdemeanor domestic violence assault. In response, the Hornets indefinitely suspended Taylor, with pay. In late October, Taylor reached a plea with prosecutors that allowed him to avoid a jail sentence. He agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence assault and malicious destruction of hotel property. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop the assault charge relating to the security officer.

On Oct. 29, Michigan District Court Judge Andrea Larkin sentenced Taylor to 18 months of probation. Among other things, Taylor’s probation requires that he complete a domestic violence intervention program, perform 80 hours of community service and submit to daily alcohol tests. Taylor’s plea deal also calls for his domestic violence assault charge to be dropped if he successfully completes probation. If Taylor instead violates the terms of his probation, he would face a possible jail sentence.

    [2007] Artest suspended 7 games.

Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest was arrested Monday and excused indefinitely from the team after a woman said he shoved her to the floor inside his home and prevented her from calling 911.

Placer County sheriff's authorities said the woman reported she and Artest were arguing inside the home Monday morning when he pushed her. The argument moved outside when Artest tried to leave in his Hummer, sheriff's Sgt. Andrew Scott said during a news conference.

"It resulted in some pushing," Scott said of the argument. "Mr. Artest had shoved the victim to the floor several times, then he attempted to leave."

The woman threw a pot at the Hummer, shattering its windshield, Scott said. He would not disclose the woman's relationship with Artest but said a 3-year-old girl was inside the house during the incident.

But a neighbor who witnessed part of the altercation told The Sacramento Bee that the woman involved in the incident was Artest's wife, Kimsha Artest.

Deputies arrived around 9:30 a.m. at Artest's five-acre estate in the Sacramento suburb of Loomis and arrested him on suspicion of domestic violence, sheriff's spokeswoman Dena Erwin said. He also was arrested on suspicion of using force or violence to prevent the woman from reporting a crime.

"He was very cooperative," Scott said of Artest, found sitting calmly outside the home. "He gave no problems to any of the officers on scene."

An emergency protective order obtained by sheriff's officials prevents Artest from returning to his home or contacting the woman until she can obtain a restraining order. Scott said this was normal procedure.

Sheriff's officials said the woman had injuries but would not describe them. She declined medical treatment.

Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest pleaded no contest Thursday to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge stemming from a March 5 dispute with his wife, the latest in a string of off-court problems.

Placer County Superior Court Judge Francis Kearney sentenced Artest to 100 hours of community service and a 10-day work project through the county sheriff's department. Artest also was fined $600 and ordered to get extensive counseling.

Kearney modified the restraining order that has kept Artest away from his wife, Kimsha, and three children since the incident at his $1.85 million mansion in Loomis, 25 miles northeast of Sacramento.

Artest will be allowed to have peaceful contact with his wife, and there are no restrictions on contact with his children. The judge said an attorney for Artest's wife appeared before her Thursday morning to say that Kimsha Artest no longer wanted any restrictions on their contact.

He was accused of grabbing, pushing and slapping his wife during an argument and preventing her from calling 911. The couple's 3-year-old daughter was home at the time.

Artest was charged with corporal injury to a spouse, battery, false imprisonment and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, all misdemeanors. He pleaded no contest to the first charge, while the others were dismissed, although they could be restored if he violates the terms of his three-year probation.

Artest declined to comment outside the courthouse, but his attorney said he was pleased to put the matter behind him.

"He's just so happy he's going to see his kids," attorney William Portanova said. "He's in heaven. He would take any punishment and go through anything to be reunited with them."

The judge agreed to a plea deal that Artest reached with Assistant District Attorney Dan Quick. In addition to the fine, community service and probation, Artest agreed to a 20-day work project with 10 days suspended, a yearlong violence treatment program and attending a parenting class on the effects of domestic violence on young children.

The details of the work project and community service will be determined by a probation officer in consultation with the sheriff department. The judge ordered Artest to provide evidence that he had complied with the order to meet with the county officials by June 25.

Artest is selling his Loomis home after a series of problems there since he joined the Kings in January 2006.

Kimsha Artest told a sheriff's dispatcher on March 5 that her finger was cut and her leg scratched during an altercation with her husband. She said he shoved her to the ground, slapped her and prevented her from making a 911 call.

She also said she broke the windshield of the family's Hummer as Artest tried to drive away from the property, according to a recording of her call released by the sheriff's department.

Sheriff's deputies previously had been summoned to at least two other domestic disturbances at Artest's home, among the five times they responded to 911 calls there since last August.

I forgot Artest had issues and that guy's track record is like ****. He played in the NBA many more years.... .

KPJ is 23, multiple teams will give him a chance. NBA does not care for any off the court issues, Ja Morant had to basically show off his AK 47 a few times before getting a real suspension.

That hasn’t been allowed in a long time.

The victim in DV has no authority to drop a case. The case is The State of NY vs KPJ. It can still be dropped by the state, but victim is no longer allowed to do that. This change to DV cases is meant to prevent the victim from feeling pressured to drop, or later feeling regret (for likely co-dependency reasons), and the cycle continues. So, states don’t allow victims to drop, anymore.

Im not going to be shocked if he gets another shot but, KPJ is no where near the player as most of these guys who had DV issues and were given another chance.

KPJ is done. I’d be willing to bet he never sets foot on an NBA court again. He’s a complete head case and can’t control his emotions or his anger issues. The basketball community(including the wnba and NBA) is very strong. Do you think any team would want to deal with WNBA players vocally speaking out in protest of a team giving KPJ another shot? Because that’s exactly what would happen.

Not to mention… this was John Lucas’ goddaughter. John Lucas is very well respected across the league. KPJ is done. He better learn Chinese.
