It was verbatim in the phone call to Raffensberger "I want you to find me 11,800 votes..."

Rubio's statement is troubling in so many ways...

"Those who decided to start using indictments, prosecutors & even mug shots as weapons in a political campaign have unleashed a destructive new era in American politics."

"Now, for years to come our criminal justice system will be used to target candidates in both parties & the harm this will do to America will take a long time to fix."

The real harm would be if Presidents and candidates who try to overturn or steal an election by illegal methods aren't held accountable for their actions. Wouldn't that give Presidential candidates and other elected officials and candidates a free reign to illegally steal elections and destroy our Democratic election process?

That is the real fear for me. If political candidates and elected officials politicians are above the law, then what good are our laws? It sets the stage for a government so corrupt that our votes will mean nothing anymore. I don't want that for our country. It is against everything that once set us apart from the oppressive regimes in the world.

This statement by Rubio isn't what this Trump case is about. Honestly, it's more about what Trump, and what their party has tried to do since before he even got elected.

Trump is being indicted for felonies he committed while in office and after leaving office. His own party members are holding him accountable, and testifying about his illegal activities.

He did this well before he said he was running again. Biden wasn't the one screaming LOCK HIM UP after the election. Biden wasn't the one tweeting away on social media to put Trump in jail. Biden wasn't tweeting away about the shady billions the Saudis poured into the Trump family, and screaming to lock them up. No, it's been Trump, MTG, Ted Cruz, Gaetz, and all the other MAGAs screaming impeachment, Hunters laptop, Biden Crime Family, Crooked Joe Biden, lock her up, lock him up, blah blah blah, since the very beginning of the days Trump decided to run for office. To me the scary part is when a political party is so hungry for power that they will insert their own people in power to take over the justice system, to persecute, impeach, and indict the opposition just out of spite.

I'm concerned about politicians like Rubio, Trump, and other GOP officials thinking that prosecuting anyone who declares they are running for office shouldn't be indicted for crimes while running. Is running for office a free pass for felons to get out of jail free? Should a President or Ex President be given a get out of jail free card for life?

Now that would be a destructive new era in American politics, when politicians can't be investigated or prosecuted for crimes.

As for the mug shot, Trump will make money off it.
He loves making a buck off what his idiot supporters believe is a witch hunt and election interference. Poor, poor Trump. I bet he has dollar signs in his head already about the mugshot. Tshirts, mugs, coins, flags, fundraiser photos, etc... He knows his supporters will send him their hard earned money.

Was he treated unjustly by being escorted to jail with a fleet of secret service vehicles, motorcycles, and police vehicles? How many accused felons get that kind of special treatment and protection, with no waiting in traffic, and a quick in and out for processing? He didn't get a cavity search, and they didn't embarrass him by putting him on a scale, and calling him out for an obviously BS submission of weight.

It's sad to me that it has come to this. It was sad to me to see our long tradition of passing the torch, and accepting the new President end with Trump. That was a tradition that set us apart from many of the corrupt regimes. His last Twitter post before returning yesterday showed his lack of respect, and broke a long history of tradition. "To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th."

It sickens me how Trump unleashed the beast of evil into a party that I once believed in. He turned them into Trump Patriots, and not American Patriots. He turned many in the party into a vindictive, hate spewing, disrespectful bunch. What happened to the law of ethics and respect for others? What happened with taking an oath to serve all the people, and not just a party? It's as if lies, propaganda, and deceit became the new normal for GOP politicians, and nobody cares to hold them accountable for it. I don't understand why politicians aren't held accountable for lying to the people of this country. It's sad.

I get while many find the mugshot shameful. I think it is a good thing for the country. It shows that even the most powerful and famous are also subject to the law.

Also we need to keep in mind that the mug shot doesn't mean guilt. He is entitled to a trial and due process. All of which he has been granted.

Georgia already had completed recounting, 3 times by 12/7/2020; on 1/2/21, Trump asked GA SoS to find 11780 votes, exactly 1 more vote to overturn the result, and threatened him and his attorney with possible criminal investigation if he failed to do so.

The disgraceful profession wants us to ignore history and many MAGA will happily do so.

    Yea, absolutely.

Trump, as POTUS, was shameful. His mugshot symbolizes that criminals, even a former POTUS, are not above the law. Truly, anyone with a shred of normalcy knows he's a criminal; the question is whether or not he will once again get away with it. This helps reduce the shame by demonstrating that the US holds even a POTUS accountable, rather than increasing it. However, the insistence of Republican leadership to continue supporting him is shameful and, as mentioned earlier, will be viewed very negatively in the future.

For Trump, his mugshot is a money making venture. Believe it or not, he has already posted tshirts, mugs, and souvenirs on his website for sale. You too, can spend $34 for a T-shirt with his mugshot. They guy has no shame.

If she votes for him from jail, that would have to be a mail-in ballot. I thought those were fraudulent?

A lot of things could happen.

Generations from now Americans could look back and wonder how he became President.

Americans could look back and think that he was the beginning of President's being arrested and charged with crimes.

Americans could look back and see his Presidency as the beginning of the failing of the system in the USA.

It is also possible that Americans will be so brain washed in generations that they view his as the victim of a kangaroo court,.

Seems testimony like this in the trial will make it hard to say "gee, all trump did was question the results"...

    Not verbatim, but close enough...

"And you are going to find that they are — which is totally illegal — it is more illegal for you than it is for them because, you know, what they did and you’re not reporting it. That’s a criminal, that’s a criminal offense. And you can’t let that happen. That’s a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer. And that’s a big risk. But they are shredding ballots, in my opinion, based on what I’ve heard. And they are removing machinery, and they’re moving it as fast as they can, both of which are criminal finds. And you can’t let it happen, and you are letting it happen. You know, I mean, I’m notifying you that you’re letting it happen. So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have because we won the state."
