Technically the primary backs all ran for over 4 ypc, which is hard to believe, because every time you looked up the backs were getting stuffed at the line, and all too often they would get tackled when they were one move way from breaking a big one. It was painful to watch.
That's life in the air raid. Runs sprinkled in on 1st and 2nd down get big chunks of yards as you march down the field. The problem was we couldn't get a 3rd and short to save our lives. Resulted in so many turnovers and points left on the field. It's a knock-on reason as to why we cycled through kickers the first half of the year, lol.
AD Chriz Pezman was just on a podcast and dropped some interesting info. -26k season tickets sold for football -self generated revenues up 150% since joining the Big 12 -UTSA, TCU, and UT all on track for sellouts -As soon as we play our final home game this year the video board will be replaced with a new one that is 3x bigger -He hopes Dana "retires here"
The AD praising the job Dana is doing and hoping he "retires here" makes no sense to me. Would anybody reading this post that had a kid with other recruitment options be open to him playing for Dana? In addition to moving up to a higher level of competition in the Big 12 we lack the proper leader, motivator, and recruiter as we are stuck with Dana for at least the next couple of years. IMO he is not deserving of any praise as our football program has taken a gigantic step backward with him at the helm. Hope I am wrong and we turn it around but I am just not feeling it our current head coach.
That just means he hopes Dana wins enough to where they don't habe to fire his ass. I am wondering what is the magic number to him being the coach a year from now. I think the season really has to go off the rails for him not to get another season. If they win 4 or more I think he is back.
We kept Helton for 7 years because we could pay him like a young dentist, The magic number is Fertitta.
Tired of the excuses. Bottom line is you did not have your team prepared for the Rice Owls. The Rice friggin Owls. Does not bode well when we start playing Big 12 teams. Love our team. Hate our head coach. Can't wait until he is shown the door.
It's year 5 and these are the "quality wins" Dana has so far: 2021 SMU (8-4) Auburn (6-7) 2022 UTSA (11-3) ECU (8-4) Here's the embarrassing losses: 2019 Tulane (7-6) 2020 Hawaii (5-4) 2022 SMU (7-6) Tulsa (5-7) 2023 Rice (1-1) _______ I've seen enough. Spoiler
