So our daughter just started 5th grade, with that has come some more extra curricular activities and we're thinking it's time to give in and get her a phone.

At what age have yall gotten your kids a phone? Are you glad you did? Regret it?

Apps you recommend to keep things safe?

    Any best practices?

No parent has ever said they wished they gave their kid a phone earlier.

My oldest is entering 2nd grade so I'm talking out of my ass a bit here...

But I would hold out longer. How long? I have no idea. As long as you can. Hold out longer than you think you should.

I was thinking about gifting my toddler a phone for her 2 year old bday. Too soon?

A smartwatch with GPS location tracking, texting, and calling capabilities is an alternative to a full-blown smartphone.

That's what I was leaning towards for my kid. This one seems good: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/714945

Sixth grade (middle school) for comms since he was in extra curricular activities.

Lock that **** down with parental controls.

The Apple SE lte watch is another option. Works pretty well.
