I'm guessing yesterday's successful lineup was suggested by the front office. Now we're back to our regular scheduled Dusty program. Pena back at 2nd definitely seems like a Dusty call. I don't recall Y. Diaz making any errors at 1st base the few times he's played there. Kessinger has at least one recently I can remember. I would like to see Diaz get more reps there. Will Kessinger be our permanent 1st baseman if J. Abreu happens to get hurt? Dubon has a better arm but I think he has worse range and I've noticed on some flyballs he does successfully catch, he will still sometimes have trouble tracking them and has to adjust. Most likely due to lack of reps and experience.
Dusty's favs get 1000 chances to f*** up. Dusty's doghouse get 10 chances and whether they perform or not, they're still doghouse. Maldy can catch day game after a night game, but if (BIG IF) Diaz catches a night game, then obviously he shouldn't catch the next day. His logic is dependent on his feelings -- which isn't a masculine trait.
But at the same time NO player catches 80%+ of the games. Maldy is on this roster and must play. Today is the perfect game to play him. The 1st game is the game he should have been sitting.
Dusty again with the Diaz can't hit the lefties comment. He brought it up last time when the Rays played all righties. Kessinger can't hit lefties or righties. Also Diaz hit a double against the last lefty he faced which ultimately resulted in a run. Maybe he'll get better he more he sees? I mean his excuse for not playing Chas against lefties half the time last season when he absolutely demolished them was that he wanted Dubon and Meyers to get more reps and experience against the lefties. So which is it Dusty?
With Maldy, I'm sure. Seriously doubt JV requested Kessinger at 1b and Dubon in cf. Since AS Break Dubon is batting .183 in 17 games Myers is batting .270 in 13 games And Myers is by far the better fielder. JV doesn't even know who Kessinger is. You either put the best offense or the best defense on the field, but not slumping offensive players playing out of position.
If Maldy is going to catch that's fine I guess but what the heavens is Kessinger doing in this lineup. Better hit a home run.
Well, as I suspected that lineup last night was a one time thing. Worked so well Dusty had to bring out about the shittiest possible lineup today as a palate cleanser.
We go from one of the best lineups of the season yesterday to one of the most F'ed up lineups today. Lol
If Dusty’s reasoning is Diaz struggles against LHP, then what is Maldy against all pitching? Need to give Diaz more AB’s to prove that narrative wrong, it’s not like there is 5 years of data on Diaz.
the best lineup was when the astros scored 17 runs. guess who were in the lineup the next day? they scored 2 runs the following day......
