So JV replaces who in the rotation? Or do they go with a 6 man rotation assuming Urquidy is back?

Brown can't win, if he does nothing because the price is too high he gets trashed, he goes for it he gets trashed. BTW, Brown wasn't around when Crane said no to resigning JV and you can bet that this deal today has Cranes full approval.

Ugh...Clifford hurts more than Gilbert, IMHO. I'm still happy, but less happy when I thought it was Leon or someone else as the second prospect.

The Astros acquired Verlander from the New York Mets in exchange for two minor leaguers, including No. 1 prospect Drew Gilbert, with the Mets agreeing to pay a significant portion of the $93 million still owed to Verlander through 2025.

Verlander, who had a full no-trade clause, waived it to return to Houston with the Mets informing him that they may not contend again until 2025. Verlander and his family loved their six years in Houston before he signed a two-year, $86.6 million free-agent deal with the Mets that included a $35 million vesting club option for 2025.

Really, he never wanted to leave in the first place, but owner Jim Crane, who’s close with Verlander, declined to match the Mets’ offer.

Now, with the Mets picking up a chunk of the contract, the deal was much more palatable for Crane and the Astros.

I'm fine with it. The outfield is set for the foreseeable future. Lets win now, back2back

We are not taking on that contract without some subsidies involved from NY.

For some reason...I'm kind of too piss losing both Clifford and Gilbert to enjoy this.

It's close. Gilbert is just probably a bit closer to contributing. Doesn't matter now lol

Here come the Debbie downers that are always in love with prospects that are years away from contributing...if they ever do.

I mean we knew it would be one of Drew or maybe Brown. Got to give something up in this environment . If we resign Tucker it won’t matter . Chas is in our control another 5 years , so it comes down to Tucker
I get it. But the outfield is set another 2 years . Maybe we resign Tucker then it’s set 5 years + . Stros will make more trades in future and find another Clifford - we hope

LOL at crying about players who at best would be relevant years from now in the best case scenario

Gilbert and Clifford are arguably our two best prospects. That hurts...and JV hasn't even been that good this year. I think I'm pretty sour on this deal unless JV becomes 2022 JV beginning tomorrow and remains that way until he leaves Houston.

The way I see it. OF is easier and easier to develop/acquire. Think about the Braves acquiring 4 rentals? in 2021 that paid off for them.
