Am I the only one who thinks all these new jerseys being released each year is getting really old and just an obvious money grab by Nike and the league?
I hear ya, I just don't watch soccer or any other sport for that matter outside of the occasional game here or there so I'm not familiar.
I think the key difference is that in soccer the teams maintain a core visual identity at home. Manchester United always wears red at home, PSG always wears blue, Juventus always wears black and white stripes, etc. There's never any confusion about who the home team is. Road kits can be dramatic departures, but home identity is never in doubt. The NBA has allowed itself to be so diluted that you can turn a game on at any given moment and not who which two teams are playing or where the game is happening. You can see Portland wearing teal on a black and teal court against Detroit in green and blue. It makes absolutely no sense that the league is ok with this. It even sucks from a merchandising perspective. I love that I can look at a red/yellow Olajuwon jersey and know that it's a championship era throwback. I love that I can see a black Drexler Blazers jersey with the lower-case font and know it's from their mid-80s era. I hate that now somebody can buy a fuchsia-hued Timberwolves jersey and say "Oh yeah, this was the Wolves' every-other-Tuesday home game jersey for the 2025 season"
I think Black deserves to be included with those 3 now. I Like having a primary set of colors (red/white/black/mustard) I also like having totally different alternate jerseys
