Agreed. The problem with either of the Twins pitchers is that they are still in the race and will want hitting. They just lost 1B Kirilloff to injury and all of their OF are just OK ( OPS+ of 85-101) I want the Astros to trade either Julks or Meyers, but they need a bat in return. Michael A. Taylor's defense has been, uncharacteristically, middle of the pack this year, he has an 85 OPS+, and is a opening FA. Buxton has been limited to DH due to injury concerns, so Jake Meyers would he a very good option for them.
Pena is pretty much at it again now that he was moved back to 2nd 788 OPS this year batting there, 820 for his career And in this short sample since he was moved back there he is 8-25, .320 with a .370 on base There is no split that can make Maldy look useable
How do they have any fans. I know that about every 30 years they have a 2-5 year run of being good.... but then it is followed with 20 years of these types of trades.
Regarding the vesting option of $35/mil for JV. I think the Mets did any awesome job with the 140 innings in 2024 threshold and passing an independent physical. Because if he did pitch 140 innings (about 5 months worth) and his physical comes back clean then I don't see how he doesn't stay a top of the line pitcher in 2025. That $35 mil would be a discount.
I'm having a hard time being productive today. Can't they move the trade deadline to a weekend day lol
Jon Heyman reports Braves are in on Verlander to help the Mets. Braves put that out quick - don't seem interested in helping the Mets.
I haven't heard anything from those around the Astros that suggests they think they will get him - but we will see I guess.
