Jeron Williams registered his first professional stolen base. It probably won't be his last.

Ryan Gusto threw 4 hitless innings.

For July he has 21 IP 7H 3R/ER 4BB 18 K. I haven't seen a scouting report, but he seems to be enjoy his time outside of Asheville.

Jacob Melton hot recently, over .300 in July and finally has the average over .250

He's one I'd be open to trading. I don't like his swing mechanics and am concerned he won't be able to hit MLB pitching.

Looks like Gilbert has really heated up

If we trade Meyers and/or Julks wonder if he gets the call

Urquidy sure looks ready to replace Bielak in the rotation: 5R on 9H in 4IP so far

    Final line: 5IP, 9H (8 1B, 1 2B) 5ER, 0BB, 1 HBP, 3K, 76P, 56K

A couple of the hits were softies, but...

    Just getting his work in

If we don't trade for someone he needs to be starting the 5th game after today

I watched it. He did not look that great: threw strikes, but lots of over the plate stuff

I'd give him another start with Sugar Land, it would be at home.

If I thought he was really worried about results then yea

So much of the time those guys are just down there getting work in

Wasn't Altuve 0-24 on a rehab and HR his first at bat back or something like that?

    No Mas Bielak

I could give 2 sh!ts about minor league results, I was saying I wasn't that impressed with what I saw. On the plus side, his velocity was solid.

I still say he needs another start where he *is* trying to be competitive before being thrown into the fray, if that wasn't the case today.

I know next to nothing about Arighetti (sp)...is he as good as the prospecterbators around here say? People are talking about his being a major piece in a major trade or slotting into the rotation or being a serious bullpen arm and I'm asking myself "how?"

He is pretty clearly Houston’s best pitching prospect right now. I personally don’t think that highly of him; I think he’s a future solid SP4 or extremely good setup man. But I have consistently underrated most of Houston’s pitching prospects over the last decade. I just think teams looking for pitching prospects might accept Arrighetti based on the fact that he’s the best Houston has to offer, which might lead them to overvalue him. I don’t want the Astros to give him away for nothing, but he’s in a group of prospects that I think might be selling at the right time (Melton and Leon are also in that group).

Who knows, but he is probably not the answer. I think he might produce similar to Luis Garcia, but that is optimistic.

why do you keep underrating the pitching prospects?

Because I don’t have access to NEARLY the same type/volume of info that the Astros front office has. So essentially I’d have to either overrate or underrate ALL of them, or otherwise just try and guess which ones will succeed. Houston’s pitching prospects typically lack pedigree, don’t have outstanding minor league statistical success, and rarely have elite FB velocity. Comb thru all the pitchers they’ve developed and very few of them signed for big bonuses, sit upper 90s, or mowed thru minor league hitters. Houston has other things they see that helps them know which ones will succeed, things that aren’t publicly known. That gap in publicly available meaningful info between hitting prospects and pitching prospects is very wide.

I don't, that's why I asked. Of course he's not an "answer" to anything this season.

His K numbers are interesting, so I'm wondering what he throws, etc...? What's the potential?
