I thought it sensible to overpay Verlander to protect the farm. Rather than thinning the farm to get a player at his level anyway. Yes $13 million more per year by Mets a fat increase you cant compete with. And dont want to encourage every other player asking for too much. And Verlander mighta been gone for any reason. But $30 mil year was lower than his previous contract extension, after being best pitcher in baseball with a WS title

"Freeing $13 mil" just to use it on Montero, eh.. Now you might have toss in a prospect to get rid of him lol. But I'm not a baseball guy though

These are the Astros tradeable assets whose value I think is peaking (so Houston should consider moving): Brandon Bielak, Corey Julks, Jacob Melton, Spencer Arrighetti

Is Chas a top 10 CFer? He’s gotta be close to doubling Springer’s WAR. Man he’s been in the zone. Him being too 10 would kind of be an indictment on the CF crop but his stats are adding up to one helluva year so far. With his emergence I’m less worried about adding a bat…we just need to get Yordan and Altuve healthy.

Going into the season, MLB had a top 10 for each position and he came in at 10.

I think I'd pass on both Verlander and Max.
Salary number one but they just don't look like they have it anymore.
    Like a downward spiral.
And when Verlander chose to go thw the Mets . That was his nail in his Coffin.
Excuse I don't like the pressure of the Astros and the playoffs. Ok Grienke get over it.
Just pitch. I don't need your excuses of why you preformed like crap in the playoffs

Yea Verlander's ERA his last 5 outings is 2.32, we can't use a guy like that. He just "don't look like" he has "it anymore"

Be better off going after a backup OF from the cards

Ok so as far as pitch velocity he has lost between 1.0 to .4 on most of his Pitches.
He is 40 so the bug could come at anytime. You get him back you could have him for 3yrs at atleast 35m per year. And you wanna resign Tucker?
Come on. Try for someone else. He spurned us.

Just keep Chas and Diaz - I know we need pitching but come on - these guys are Astros - Chas is too valuable

At this point McCormick and Diaz should be treated as more valuable than Pena, but all 3 should be valued as controllable star players.

McCormick has made himself invaluable, no matter what Dusty thinks. Diaz is also a star in the making.

It’s one game. I would trust him implicitly as I think he has the best stuff in the league.
