Nate Hinton, and Fletcher Magee, Two of the best players from the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, who played on our Houston Rockets team, recently! What has happened to them! Is there any chance of them becoming part of our team? Y
If the Rockets don't sign Hinton I probably will as a chef or a butler or something. You just want a guy like that around I think. We'll see what happens.
Mayer will run for Mayor of the Rockets and win in a landslide. A big body who shoots the three exceptionally well, rebounds and can finish at the rim, guys like that make teams. He’s a Matt Bullard type if I’ve ever seen one. Fletcher Magee is nice but he’s not getting meaningful three point fouls called with his natural shooting motion in the clutch. Old reliable is making the shot without being fouled. Mayer does that. He’s a keeper.
They can't fit the entire summer league team on the roster. Maybe a couple will stick with the Vipers. Two two-way contracts are already given out to Hudgins and Darius Days. I think that leaves one. Remember how much better Smith and Eason looked than those guys, and they were rotation players on a 20 win team. The Rockets will be OK if they don't sign every fringe player with a good summer league.
They gotta sign Nate Hinton. I like Mayer. Dont know much about McGee. Just from what you all have said. But Hinton plays like Eason. Can't lose with that. This is why I always say, it's not just Summer League. This was watching guys who hadn't played together before compete on the fly and do a very good job. Every person who played extensive minutes on that team is getting calls left and right. At least more than before.
Can’t sign any of them because our wonderful GM gave the two way contract to Darius Days. On another note, MSN led off with a headline yesterday in the sports section saying “LA Clippers Feel They Absolutely Stole KJ Martin From The Houston Rockets”. In the article they claim it will be one of the greatest steals in NBA history. They said they were shocked that the Rockets would let such a young talented player go for basically nothing.
I liked them too, but who do you see them beating out for a rotation spot? And if not in the rotation, better in GL where they can play.
