Such a soft interview. Not one question about last year’s playoff performance vs the Lakers or about the report about the Grizzlies not bringing him back under any circumstances. You can still ask these questions as a reporter without coming off like a jackass.

    23-24: $22.6M
    24-25: $22.3M
    ———————————
THERE! CUT IT OFF! STOP THE COUNT!
SAME DEAL AS BRUCE BROWN. 2 years, $45M (Pacers actually got a team option on that 2nd year)
    ———————————
    25-26: $21.1M
    26-27: $20M

You just had to give the full 4 years.

I get everyone hates this contract.
    An overpay for sure.

But I am pretty sure our brass didn't do this naively.
They had to feel this guy was key to their plans.
Not just Stone's plans but Ime's as well. Maybe more Ime than Stone actually.

But the results will dictate the legacy.
If Brooks works out or better yet, exceeds expectations, the Rockets were geniuses.
If Brooks bombs, someone gets fired.

This is where I'm at as well. Love the player, hate the contract. I think we'll love having Dillon Brooks on our team and he brings us what we need -- nastiness, defense, intensity. His contract, which is Stone's fault, should not be held against him.

Don’t get why everyone is so concerned about Tillman’s money. It’s an overpay for sure, but we definitely needed an "aggro", with all the other… "delicate bois" on the roster and we got one. I’m not losing sleep over it, some of y’all should get away from your cap spreadsheets and touch grass.

And who knows, maybe down the road Dillon can wink to his homeboy Ja, "yo, this place is lit, management is woke, won’t nickel and dime playaz… get your azz over’eer!"

Stone is on the dumb list or Udoka really wanted Brooks - which is it?

Hate the player, laugh at the contract. But I guess as long as he brings nastiness and not being nasty to his teammates.

I forgot that Bruce brown was getting that, it kind of makes Brooks deal look a little better. Brown is a career backup, if that’s the going rate, then an all defense starting sf can’t be much less, warts and all.

I never understand when posters say this. If there were no salary cap, then sure it would be valid. The reason we don't like players getting ridiculously overpaid, is because the team has a yearly budget. The more we pay Brooks, the less we can pay others. Brooks contract will make it more difficult to build a championship team.

It's not about Tillman's money, it's about Houston's cap space for the next 4 years. It would be like saying saying after the Westbrook/CP3 trade, "Why is everyone so concerned about Tillman's draft picks?"

tbh I care less about the money and more about Dillon Brooks being a toxic player on our team

this dude just has a mouth he can't control along with an attitude of "I'm the superstar"

Honestly I wouldn't care about the contract if Brooks was even a halfway decent player overall, but he's not.

He's a league minimum bench vet that we are stuck with for 4 years who will be a locker room cancer if he's not a starter and doesn't feel like he's featured enough on offense.

I guess we should be happy that they didn't max him.
