Very selfish player based on First Summer League game. Provides nothing but offense. Reminiscent of Michael Beasley.
Not making that pass to Thompson was shockingly bad tunnel vision. That was the standout from game 1 and in line with the scouting report. There’s offensive potential in there though.
Good thing he's so young, first thing to drill into him is: you have four teammates on the floor with you. Pass.
He looks like a tweener to me. G league would help him get game time vs sitting on the bench. Tari is ahead of him in every way right now. That's not a bad thing, just a thing.
As long as he is coachable we will have a good prospect on our hands. He was the youngest player in the class I believe and he has a lot of areas to improve on, but I’m sure they studied tape and told him to keep his eyes open more. Let’s see how this translates into this next game especially with Amen (99.9%) not playing.
He did seem very selfish, he played like he was playing for a contract. Amen was clapping for the ball, we would look away and just turn it over…he was like this in Villanova
It felt like he was playing to prove everyone wrong, which is a more noble motive than to get a contract (he has his contract). Stil, though, leads to the same tunnel vision. Either time in the g-league and with the coaching staff will calm him down, and he will be a reasonably efficient scorer with great defense and toughness (Ron Artest?), or it won’t and he’ll go the way of Jaygup. Either way we won’t learn much new for another year or so.
IDK. Maybe practicing with the big boys would help. G-league is good for providing play time to avoid the rust. But guys who killed it down there (e.g. Harty, Nix, TyTy) didn't seem to look any better on the NBA level when they were called up.
I see him as a powerful 2. I hope he'll develop on the active roster and not on RGV's, because I think he can contribute to the squad's overall toughness. Seems like a decent outside shooter. We'll see what Obi-Wan Udoka can whisper to him...
He doesn't know the fundamentals of the game, apparently had very bad coaching in his high school years and if he can't fix those flaws in next 2 years, he'll not be playing in the NBA. He's basically the exact opposite of Amen.
Kid is 18. He has alot of learning that needs to be done. We didn't darft him to be a franchise plauer with the 20th pick. He's 100% just a prospect
Ummm no. He attended a big time HS program. He as an advanced by of offensive moves and handle. He broke his thumb on his primary and early in his college season and still have the basketball skill to have an impact for freshman year. He made 2 (that I recall) nice reads in the game. He is coming off an embarrassing draft. I mean the proof is in the pudding that he clearly has an issue with tunnel vision, and I think it was probably exacerbated by wanting to put on a show. BUT let’s not knock a skill level that is very clearly there. He needs to make reads and pass. He just turned 19. Pretty sure it will come.
