Backcourt - VanVleet / Green Forwards - Eason / Smith Center - Sengun Bench Amen Thompson Cam Whitmore TyTy Washington Jr Josh Christopher Kevin Porter Jr KJ Martin Usman Garuba Jae'Sean Tate Still need size off that bench. Looks undersized.
The "Udoka vetoed Harden" insider story smacks of "we need a fall guy if it looks like we **** the bed again so we'll blame this guy who was radioactive last year that we just gave 25m to"
Lol I am not, I have overrated Ime and his choices. FVV is an undersized guard who was a bench player on a fringe championship team that has luck Durant got injured that year. After Lowry and Kawhi left, he made the most of out his chances but recently played worse. He is no Siakam, a decent guy who is probably worth 20-28 million now paid 43 million. Also he is going to be past his prime after his first two years and the Rockets got him.
I would maybe agree if he just went back to Philly. The way I see that is the Rockets weren't willing to give him max money, therefore he didn't have leverage against Philly to give him the max he wanted. I don't think it was just a matter of the Rockets desperate to have him then he spurned them.
Again...some of y'all thought the Rockets, AKA the worst team in the league for 3 straight years, were going to sign Jayson Tatum or Luka Doncic this offseason.
Stop reading then - you're free to get angry or disagree. Either is fine with me. I said this was better than worst case scenario - worst case would be strikeout - run it back It's not best case, but i think its otherwise just realism to say its a modest improvement I mean, what do you think a realistic assessment is? These are all easily testable propositions.
I have never said Doncic, I was not even on board with Phase 2 now that would have been the case in 2 years from now. Lmao. Do not throw anyone you do not fully know to the some of you ....group. 3 is the magic number for Van Vleet. 3 bad years 3 VV years.
I think there may be some locker room issues with these guys. Sengun and Green are coming into year 3 and they were probably feeling like the Top dogs after the rest of the vets were cut or traded away. Now you have a new coach and a new leader and I wouldnt be surprised if they are pissed.
They've been saying all the right things, they want more structure, they want to be pushed, etc. Let's see how it goes when the rubber meets the road.
Who cares if they are. I don't think FVV is that great but he's got a much better resume than those 2 combined
I'm not angry. I also do not want to disagree. I am pointing out that for what seems like a few years now every word you type about this team is negative. So I guess carry on it's "fine with me."
I don’t believe this. It looks a bit more obvious that Harden canvassed the free agency market, saw that there was some interest, yet not enough to net a max deal from the teams that were able to offer… so he opted into his player option only in hopes to be traded away from his 3rd team within the past 3 seasons. To say that Harden being signed or traded for at this juncture of his career comes with a ton of baggage, is an understatement. I really feel like VanVleet was priority #1 for our FO, especially after hearing that he went directly to Nick Nurse to talk to the young guns in Toronto so that he could take them under his wing. I feel like that, on top of the production, was a big time selling point for why we were willing to “overpay” for a guy like FVV.
Where is the FFV is a true leader coming from? He is a good player, but if we’re being honest, TOR underachieved in a weak east. If we signed him for 20 - 25M, I’ve would’ve been fine, but a three year max is crazy.
