Spotrac has a nice article reviewing all the Salary Guarantee decisions that are pending for each NBA team. https://www.spotrac.com/news/projecting-2023-nba-contract-guarantees-1938/

The Houston Rocket's very own Daishen Nix is on the list... his salary has to be guaranteed by June 29th or he will become a free agent. That's Right! It is Nix(ed)Mas Eve! I think he will be waived and Spotrac says it best...

"Nix is probably going to get caught up in the Rockets desire to create over $60 million in cap space. In addition, the Rockets roster is starting to get stuffed. That’ll likely see Nix waived"

Of Course, they left out his -1.0 VORP on limited minutes. Nix was pretty much the worst player in the NBA last year on a minutes adjusted basis.

Just having some light hearted fun... no reason to hit me with the I.D.I.O.T. acronym on my first thread... I wish Nix well, I just think the Rockets will move on.

If they pick up the option, can we petition Adam Silver to step in and reject it for "basketball reasons"?

Good question. I think the Rockets can only extend Nix after the guarantee... As a Free Agent he could be signed to 25% of Salary Cap or almost $200 Million over 5 years....

There’s no longer a place on the roster for Nix with Amen, TyTy, and the new veteran point guard (e.g. VanVleet). He should’ve been waived last year before the trade deadline. Way past due!

On a side note, it was a mistake to waive Theo Maledon last year and keep Boban and Nix. He performed well for the Hornets last year.

More pertinent - Who are the Rockets getting with this extra 2m cap space?

"We took some big swings, everything didn't exactly work out, but we're excited with the team we have and can't wait to get in the gym for the regular season"

I legit want all the children to get some coaching from Ime to see what they have. The Silas Tax is real. Nix probably a much better player than we think. chubby dude showed flashes before he went back to being doo doo garbage.

I would like to see what he can do with a proper coach and system, but I could see the org cutting him and bringing him back on a 2 way deal as I believe @BimaThug suggested first.

I understand that point of view. He has size for a PG. He dominated the G-League at 19 & 20. With a good system does he turn into a winning player? Either he or TyTy has to go... so some young pup will be cut. If the Rockets think TyTy can be used to get the decent cost controlled starting point guard in a trade, then they may keep Daishen as the third point guard.
