The only reason is because he made it known through his father and back channels that he wants out. He wants to get paid. With Cam and free agents joining, I can only imagine that he wants out more than rockets fans want him out.
On one of the worst teams in the league. Y’all gotta stop getting attached to every player. He needs to go!!! We just wanna see this team get better, and we can’t do that by keeping guys like KJ
He's got no future here though and he wouldn't be happy being buried on the bench. If you look at positional rankings by merit he'd be at best the 3rd best option at SF behind KPJ and Tari Eason....and they just drafted another SF. He's not a PF and if he was trying to be a SG that wouldn't help him get any more playing time. Same goes for Tate and a few other guys on the team. You can't keep everyone so you need to move those guys that will never play here who might get a chance somewhere else.
He has the highest bbiq on the team after sengun. He is extremely limited but plays smart but i'm not gonna lose my sleep over a limited role player if he gets traded.
KJ Martin has value. That's why he would be traded. Because we could actually get a vet in a package with poscks and maybe Garuba and picks for said vet.
I totally get that which is why I even mentioned it. It sucks that there is a solid chance of that happening. I like KMJ. I also really, really, really dislike Nix.
But he’s one of the few that has pretty much reached his peak. He asked for a trade. The Rockets built his value up, so now it’s time to cash in. And the Rockets need to do it now while teams are trying to get under the apron. A team that wants to cut salary will give up a FRP to get a player as productive as KJM while cutting salary. Once we extend him, all of the luster comes off. I predict he will help facilitate a valuable piece.
I tried this on trade aching and it was successful Rockets received: Myles Turner Suns received: Dan Theiss Hield KJ Martin Garuba suns get some depth and a 3 and d player in Hield Pacers receive: Ayton JaeSean Tate Josh Christoper pacer were interested in Ayton last offseason
I've liked his tenure with us but I think he'd be one of the easier, if not the easiest, guy to move on from. He's made it known he was unhappy with his role. And with the drafting of Whitmore, his minutes will shrink even more. Even Tate, who I love, may be trade bait as well. We just have so many players deserving of minutes. Im not sure what Udoka will do or who will get sent to the G League/traded
As long as they’re package to bring in a better level player I’m cool. I don’t wan to package multiple player for a lateral movement of one player coming back. Like I want to consolidate for a bonafide stud Something like KPJ, Tari, KMJ and Tate for Ayton of the suns would accept that.
Yeah I shared it with Suns fan on their sub forum and one reply aid they’d do it if we replace Garuba with Tari or added Tari. I’m cool with that idea now that we have Whitmore but before that I wasn’t complete ok
