KPJ not a 3 bruh. Too small. Besides if he keeps holding the ball making the offense come to dead stop, then there’s no point in starting him in any position.
Kpj / green / Tate / Jabari / sengun Amen / Christopher/ Eason / Kmj / Garuba Nix /Tyty / Whitmore / Who can we get for tate/kmj/nix ? What veterans are we gonna sign!?
Kpj is the perfect 6th man. He would eat up the backups in this league and have the freedom to be himself. He is also a amazing catch and shoot player so when is in with the starters, he can fill that role. I see him having a very Manu like role or at the very least a Eric Gordon like role
All you needed to do to know the organisation wasn't high on KPJ as a PG, was to watch 5 minutes of a Houston Rockets game.
Baring a trade I expect KPJ to start at the beginning of the season unless we sign another veteran PG. I expect Amen to be the PG long term if he can develop his shot to a (semi)-respectable level.
I'd be shocked if both rookies come off the bench but if it did happen, it would mean the "playing guys based on draft position instead of merit" policy that the team had under Silas is truly gone.
Sengun is the PG in the half-court. KPJ will start and bring the ball up, but will surrender it to Jalen or Sengun. KPJ’s 3 pt shooting is critical to the team and he has defensive potential with the right coach. If he is un-coachable he will be traded. Amen will sub in when Sengun is subbed out and run the point. We would be better off signing a vet backup center and vet 3 pt specialist not a PG that will insist on starting. A bench of vet shooter, vet center, Cam, and Amen is a great start to fielding a well-rounded and good defensive team. So: KPJ Green Tari Jabari Sengun Amen Vet shooter Vet center Cam That’s a nine man rotation. If KPJ doesn’t adjust by trade deadline, go after a vet Pg for the bench and start Amen. I trust Ime to figure it out. Just hope Tillman doesn’t force a stupid signing. Vets that would be ideal in trade or FA: Harrison Barnes Bogdanavich Horford Cam Johnson Reeves Vincent Grant Williams White
They took Amen 4th overall so you know at some point they want him to start. Doesn’t make any sense to keep KPJ in that role knowing they have a guy they want to take the reigns there sooner than later. Makes a lot more sense to go ahead and get KPJ playing the role they have envisioned for him. Ime talked about getting KPJ off ball since he’s a more efficient player in that role. Initially I thought they would bring in a stop gap pg like van fleet, but I think they are going to go ahead and hand the reigns to Amen. Either way I don’t think KPJ will be playing much pg if any at all this next season. I think Ty Ty will also get a chance to get minutes there as well.
It's a dilemma You must start top 4 picks right away......but starting Amen is opposite of, "trying to win right away" We started #2 Jalen Green right away because we were tanking We started #3 Jabari Smith right away because we were tanking Right now, I'm hearing that, "we are trying to win now".... not tanking If the NBA defenders play defense like they do in Overtime Elite things would be great....but they (NBA players) don't. That matador defense where Amen jab steps right and the defender takes himself completely out of the play rarely is seen during NBA games. That's A.A.U. - street ball - All Star game nonsense. A bigger Westbrook comp does not appeal to me.....Westbrook won all his awards when the NBA was different. It's morphing away from non shooters. But I digress, both KPj and Amen can be interchangeable at PG and SF. KPj can cover 1(PG), 2 (SG), and 3 (SF) because he can shoot. Amen, unfortunately my man, you need to shoot to be a shooting guard. *I still have KPj at PG until I see what happens in free agency. Takes PG's in the NBA approximately 3 years to catch on: see Cade Cunningham, Suggs, Cole Anthony, SGA, DeAaron Fox. Rockets spent time training KPj up to be where Amen will be two years from now....maybe
Don't believe anything that comes out of Raffy Stone's mouth. Everything that comes out isn't a lie - but he will lie when he needs to. [QUOTE="harold bingo, post: 14691534, member: 62081"What does this mean for KPJ? How does he fit into all this? Will he move to 6th man off the bench? Will he start at the 2 over Jalen Green? I'm really unsure how this is going to work, I'm curious to hear what yall think.[/QUOTE] I believe that KPJ will be the starter at point guard to open the season, these draft picks will not be handed starting jobs like Green and Jabari. When it becomes clear that Amen Thompson is ready, they will likely transition KPJ to the bench or trade him - depending on how KPJ handles it.
Vet PG will start. KPJ will be traded or come off the bench as 6th man. Amen will be developed and play 1-3 around 18-20 minutes until he becomes starting PG in 1 to 2 years.
Very surprised neither starting isn’t a polling option. If we’ve done things right this offseason, we have a veteran pg starting with Amen learning behind him. And KPJ is coming off the bench, playing off the ball, or is moved in a trade package. If Jalen wasn’t on the roster KPJ could be a starting caliber 2, but this is Jalen’s make or break season.
I think KPJ would benefit a lot from Amen. KPJ should be the secondary or even third playmaker on a team. He is a great spot up shooter and he should be pretty good as a cutter. You basically free him from the burden of initiating the offense. He can still break the defense down, and for a scorer he is a good passer. Plus at least in time Amen can probably defend the better opposing guard.
Most picks don’t start right away, amen probably hits the Gleague for a spell. I think KPJ starts unless we sign like FVV. DD
you guys keep forgetting what ime has said and that makes Sengun his pg. KPJ will continue to start. Amen will come off the bench until he learns to shoot. We will sign a vet backup center an d a couple of vet shooters.
Amen will start of course... for the Vipers, that is. It will be a major step-up from OTE. If he is the upstanding kid that people say he is, he may get a starting job in due course. But I am hopeful we finally install a meritocracy and play the guys who make the team better. I seriously doubt Amen will be that guy coming from that bush-league and leading an NBA team... Generally, PGs take longer to develop and need experience against serious competition. LaMelo did OK, but the Aussie league is not the OTE joke. Let Amen dominate in Rio Grande and then bring him up.
If we are trying to win, the question doesn't matter. KPJ is a play now, off the team later player. AT is a not play now, big role later guy.
