I think I'm the only one that still thinks this is a 2 pointer. I'm happy lakers lost but this one play is killing me hahaha. 18 secs, his right foot is still in contact with the floor inside the line while in the shooting motion. I actually think his shooting motion started before the 18th second in that video where his right foot is clearly inside and his left foot has not been established outside yet. I guess it's all interpretation as to when the shot attempt started? I just want to be educated. https://official.nba.com/rule-no-5-scoring-and-timing/ A successful field goal attempt from the area outside the three-point field goal line shall count three points. The shooter must have at least one foot on the floor outside the three-point field goal line prior to the attempt. The shooter may not be touching the floor on or inside the three-point field goal line. The shooter may contact the three-point field goal line, or land in the two-point field goal area, after the ball is released.
I really like Jokic’ game and that he looks like a big Al Bundy. He seems so unathletic with maybe a 3” vertical but he makes it looks so easy and plays smooth.
Great for Jokic and great for the sport. Big dude has been putting on a freaking show and every bit the MVP type player that he is. Good for him for reinventing the narrative. Would love to see the wills of Jokic and Himmy clash in the finals.
It's not the beginning of the shooting motion. It's when the ball leaves your hands. His right foot was clearly off the inside of the arc when the ball left his hands. It's the same interpretation for whether a shot is taken before the clock expires. It's not when the shooting motion starts but when the ball leaves the hands.
Even at 00:18 (your own timestamp), his left foot was outside the 3pt line while his right foot in the air and was "not touching the floor on or inside the three-point field goal line." And like another poster said, it depends on when the ball was released.
I'm glad that the Lakers were swept on their home court. My respect for LeBron has increased. He gave all that he had in his tank. AD let the team down. The Lakers lacked the cohesion, team chemistry and trust that the Nuggets possessed. I want Miami to sweep the Celtics too.
Got it! that's what was holding me up. Other rules like charges, continuation, seem to be related to when the shooting motion starts. I guess I just forgot about the when the ball is released part. It just seems like it's something players could exploit.
