Nothing would make my happier than seeing Wood get a 4 year extension from the Mavericks. Hopefully they extend Kyrie as well.
Bump. Now mavs season is over, I couldn't help it. Goes to show some folks have a poor eye for talents. Putting up stats Is one thing, but folks got to watch how the man plays and his real impact on the court b4 praising him. Quite similar to the head honcho. Luka looks like he might need a "pg" if kyrie isn't staying, wonder if they would like to take kpj off our hands also.
They should have embraced the 'all-in on offense' philosophy like the Adelman Kings did, especially after they traded for Irving. Maybe they would have made out better overall if they hadn't hardly played their second/third best offensive player throughout the year. Poor management and coaching refusing to craft their playing style to their personnel.
that would be great, but i doubt luka would want to play with kpj, it would probably drive him out the door.
Luka is a huge part of the problem. He's just not Harden and everyone is anointing him as such. A large swath of Harden's career was played before they supercharged the offenses and made all of the rules about close outs and people just stopped playing defense. So they look at the numbers and think Luka = Harden when he isn't even close. He's slower, much less athletic, way more whiny and worse defensively. That being said.... LOL Wood. What a garbage player and one of the most unlikable players in Rockets history along with Honcho. Absolute definition of a selfish player. Didn't think he'd contribute to catering the Mavs season but credit where credit is due. Masterclass Trojan Horse by Wood. Let's get KPj to Golden State next season.
I was so happy when we got Wood in free agency. By the time he left I couldn’t wait for him to be gone. I wonder what the Mavs fans who laughed at us for getting rid of him think now? Guess we’ll find out
Also shows some people don't really follow the league closely and just "bump" because it impresses the ladies. @DaDakota wasn't directionally wrong. Wood was brought in to score points in Dallas as a 3rd option and basically he did that, when he played. He started off on fire. The subject of Christian Wood, his usage or lack thereof under Kidd and the general wackiness of the Mavericks lineups was a much discussed thing this year - half of Mavericks Twitter spent the year screaming to put Wood in.
Also, funny how a trade can ruin chemistry too. Weren't the Mavs in 5th or 6th place in the West and after the Kyrie trade they lost momentum? I think Wood is a good player. Anybody who can put up 20/10 has a place in the NBA but is he a starting 4 or a backup 5, just has to find the right team. Ironically, I think that's going to be Sengun's issue too. He can put up numbers, playmake but does it relate to winning? Your centers are your last line of defense, that's why teams who when Championship have defensive minded centers....NOT OFFENSIVE
U type all that sht and bring up championship as a criteria to sht on sengun. Btch we haven't won anything since 1995, how about we see what sengun got before likening him to c. Wood a locker room cancer who couldn't blow up on a different team like some folks predicted
And on top of that talk about Sengun and Wood defensively as if there is remotely a similarity in talent, effort, age. Sengun is already better than Wood on d, 6 years younger and much room to grow physically and gamewise. And you don't need a dopy center to be a contender.
So glad we traded this scrub... But But, 20 and 10! Feels the same as the people who will use KPJs stats to show how "valuable" he is as well
Wood was on a $13-14m contract (from us). Rockets wanted to play the young guys, and didn't throw a bigger number at Wood (to his liking), so traded him instead. 13m is the going rate for centers like Jonas , Nurk and Brook Lopez. After the Mavs stint, Wood might not get the same (starting center) amount as before. So if Heat gets him, curious at what price. The last Rockets guy, Heat wanted from us (on the cheap), was Oladipo, hasn't exactly worked out for them. Wood and Oladipo are similar in that they bet on themselves, but might have turned down money they no longer can get.
