Hah this is golden! I respext and understand clutch's point about how Senguj is relatively harder to build around becauae of his defensive issues. But a coach who can better scheme and doesn't require drop coverages every time out of the center will already make a difference. Plus, sengun is the most fun player to watch!

I've said all along that Sengun should be the starting center BUT last night was definitely his best defensive game since he has been a Rocket.

This is why I would not trade him just yet. Like I said before they traded C Wood, until they get a competent Head Coach, nobody should be traded.

We don't know how well KPJ, Sengun, Green or any of these players can be until we see them in a true system, both offensively and defensively.

You must not follow clutch that much lol. He’s not a sengun guy at all. He’s more old school and prefer a more defensive big. That’s how I feel too about Sengun and center preference

    Rockets 23/24

*Harden: Harden comes back with "home town" discount.
    No need for Sign-n-Trade

    *Trade: Sengun/Tate x Cameron Johnson/Nic Claxton

*Draft: ran NBA tankathon 10 times. #1 & #5 tied for most outcomes (3 each)
flipped a coin between each with #5 winning.
#5 and #18 are our picks
    #5 Jarace Walker 34.7 (3P%) or Cam Whitmore 34.3 (3P%)
#18 (move back for) Zach Edey (Purdue)

Other FA: [Harden]....but then Torrey Craig. Suns are approximately $160M with
money tied up in CP3/Durant/Ayton/Booker. Craig age 32 should be available
    at a good price. 6'7", 39% (3P%), SF/PF
    _____________________________

    1) Harden..................TyTy
    2) Green....................
    Josh Christopher
    3) KPj..........................Kenyon / Torrey Craig
    4) Jabari Smith...........Tari / Cam Johnson /
    Jarace Walker or Cam Whitmore
    5) Claxton....................Garuba / (
Edey vs bigs like Embiid/Jokic/etc )
    ________________________
*I expect KPj to start the season fighting for the 3 spot.
If the 3-guard attack doesn't work or click the first
quarter of the season, then a trade can be worked out.

Because all of Harden/Green/KPj can run as SG or 2-spot, JC would be expendable.

*I would start season (1st quarter) with Silas......system works as noted by Vipers
reaching finals with Abdelfattah on Rockets bench. Vipers have been to the Finals 3 straight
seasons while running Silas system with whole roster turnovers each year.

I also have mention how the Rockets may use Silas as a scapegoat as Cavs
did with John Lucas when tanking for LeBron or Sixers did Lucas when tanking
    for Joe Smith.

But I'm fine with either Nurse or Ime Udoka (Udoka my preference)

** on the bubble or possibly trade bait

    Jarace Walker

    Cam Whitmore

    Zach Edey: 290 lbs

About KPJ: “He lacks ability to make advanced reads, which is one of the reasons the Rockets are dead last in corner three-point attempts. His tendency is to isolate, which is his strength, and that can create a lot of selfish basketball.”

Nothing more to say, Your Honor!

I see Cameron Johnson is a restricted FA.....would need to be SnT
    Sengun/Josh Christopher x Cameron Johnson

    work a separate trade for
    Tate x Claxton

I was saying he doesn’t want to necessarily trade Sengun but he doesn’t think he’s a star - he always says the org views him as blah.. but doesn’t necessarily agree - iirc he wanted SenHub and then Silas just Silassed - He also said he doesn’t necessarily agree with that stance in rockets watch.

If the Rockets get the third pick, they might still have a chance to land Scoot, but if they land the fourth pick, they'd need to move up, and I think the cost would be too high. I don't think our pick (theoretical 4th), Sengun and KPG would be enough, nor would the Rockets even consider touching Green or Smith (good!). No, any package to move up is going to include Sengun and Eason and picks. Ugh.

But Scoot, Green, and Bari has the potential to be a hell of a core.

That’s true too.. he’s also said that’s his belief too! He’s not high on Sengun’s archetype and made it clear

I like #1 & #2. As for #3 it confirms Clutch does not care for Sengun. He has left the article about Bruno starting from the beginning of the season as the main article on Clutchfans to this day so it is more than obvious he does not like him. Any new coach they hire should factor into the decision whether they keep Sengun or not. They will regret it if they trade him.

This article is like reading the garm, its all known speculation and was known 6 months ago when you wrote the last article. it also adds very little new information.

I think it's funny to single out Sengun for his pick-and-roll defense when our perimeter defense looks historically awful. So, who does Alpo guard? His own dude or the one who zoomed around Green or KMJ so easily?

The dude can pass, handle, score. Kinda foolish to include him in a trade unless we had a Godfather offer.

You basically lose your Turkish market .....in what? third year?

It is a bad business decision and Tilly is mostly about business decisions.

You keep him as long as it is feasible even if it means he does not get to play extensive minutes.

I do not view No 3 as a point overall.

Selecting a coach is obviously most important, then comes the Draft, then comes Free agency and necessary trade for veterans.

I would not mind talking about Stone's job as well.

Jabari was horrible in 60 games and I do not see him mentioned here.

According to @Clutch, the Rockets should shop the player the majority of Rockets fans love to watch the most and who (overwhelmingly) most of the Rockets fans think has the highest basketball IQ.

He has the highest PER, the best +/-, the highest Win Shares on the team. He (and I think Tari) have the most "heart" on the team, always play hard.

To add to that, this player is the youngest center ever in the entire NBA to record a triple double, the youngest center ever in the NBA to have two triple doubles, the best (and most creative) passer on the team, the best rebounder on the team, the youngest center ever in the NBA to record a 30-15-5 game, and the Rockets player who easily made the biggest jump in productivity from year 1 to year 2, despite having a coach who didn't want to start him and who refused to play through him for most of the season.

Bonus data point: (Admittedly at a low volume) his 3-point % is actually better than that of Jabari Smith, a Clutch favourite, who is considered a 3-point specialist.

Clutch is closer to the team than anyone, I guess, and seems to have heard some internal criticism of Sengun, calling him the worst P&R defender in the league.

But even Silas, who hasn't exactly been supportive of him, praised him for having improved his defense.

And he is still only 20 years old.

If he gets just a few more minutes and the new coach plays through him a little more than Silas did, he is already on track to average at least 18-10-5 with a steal and a block and a dunk per game next season.

Yet, Clutch wanted Bruno Fernando to start over him and has been talking about trading him for about as long as he has been here.

Clutch is of course the man...

    As for #2.

They are going to stall the PG question unless you get Henderson or a major PG acquisition.

That much I learned about the Rockets in these decades.

Get a new head coach? Yes

Move KPJ into a 6th man role? Yes

Shop Sengun? Okay. Trade Sengun? We will regret it.
