Anyone here have a private pilot license? If so, where did you get it from? Any recommendations? About how much did you spend? Also, does it matter if the pilot school is 61 or 141, or does that not matter for just a private pilot's license?
i took a couple of hours from here. in pearland. but never finished the 40+ hours you need to get a private license.. and these days i keep hearing of all these small planes going down....makes me uneasy.
My brother-in-law is finishing the (very long) process of getting his commercial pilot's license. He had to re-fly a ton of hours because the plane he trained on crashed when someone else was using it (apparently you test on the plane you trained on?). And before that the plane he was using hit an eagle, but he was able to land. I'll post the pic if I can get it. I also had a friend as a kid who's stepdad crashed his plane in Mexico and died. I'm pretty sure he was running drugs but.... /shrug I've relayed your questions to my sister and will post her answers. You should probably also check into life insurance.
Family friend flies in a 40K$ plane. Idk how is ever trust my life on a private plan like that or even anything smaller than the smallest commercial and lane
My FIL is a commercial pilot. On the subject of plane crashes, he once told me that it is much safer to fly than the drive. He said if something goes wrong in mid air, at least you get a chance to glide to a smooth landing. This is true, for the most part...
@Haymitch From my sister. Still waiting on the pic of the giant bald eagle-sized dent in the wing of my BIL's plane. Part 61 school. Wouldn't do a part 141 if just doing private license. Plan on spending 12-13k. Ground classes at most schools are waste of time/money. Most of their material is taken from online courses. Lots of material on YouTube for free.
