All this talk about arm strength for Richardson and Levis... JaMarcus Russell could supposedly throw 70 yards from his knees. Can't imagine taking either in the first round. Maybe Anthony Richardson is the next Josh Allen. Maybe Will Levis is the next Brett Favre. But more than likely they are just the next NFL busts.

There’s no guarantee the Texans take a quarterback at No. 2 (even if they absolutely still need a franchise QB). The Texans have the best haul of draft capital available and they’re insanely young as a team, so they could wait until next year if they want. Young, however, is a mature leader with a strong football IQ. He’d be tough to pass up if he slips past the top spot. 9. Houston Texas (*Projected trade: No. 9 for Nos. 12 and 66) : Peter Skoronski, OL, Northwestern Dane had Carolina moving up for Stroud and, perhaps, that’s true north for the Panthers: whatever it takes to get a starting QB. If that’s not possible or doesn’t come to pass, the next item on the agenda might be receiver. In this draft, No. 9 could be too high to address that position. So, instead, Carolina trades back here and Houston moves up for Skoronski, who can play guard and tackle and probably do so for a really long time in front of Young. Wouldn’t hate this but I’d rather take Mayer at 12 keep Howard at RT and draft some G/C help in the middle rounds. If Mayer is as advertised then he’s a great security blanket for Young. Elite TEs (Kelce, Kittle, Gronk, etc.) really lift an offense. Throw money at defense in FA and you could tune this around very quickly.
I’m expecting Anthony Richardson to make a massive leap up the draft boards after the pro day & combine. Is what it is. The talent alone will be too much for teams to pass on. Is there much difference between him & Trey Lance coming out? The 9ers gave a kings ransom to get Lance at 3rd overall
They did and the ROI so far has been a huge negative, luckily for them Shanahan is a genius. Reminds me of when Zach Wilson solidified being the #2 pick with a single pro-day throw.
Not saying I agree with it, just that I’d expect it to happen given history. The Wilson love was always wild to me, it just takes one team to fall in love. In this case hopefully that’s the Colts
Do we have Wonderlic scores yet for the QBs? I want to see how smart some of these guys are. If I were dedicating tens of millions of dollars to a franchise QB, I'd put them through a battery of psychological tests. Behavioral, IQ, stress -- the works.

None of these top QBs are wow prospects. They are just the best QBs in a weak QB class. Either trade the picks or go defense.

Texans - CJ Stroud Houston should plan to get a quarterback early, then take the best playmaker available with its other first-round pick. And C.J. Stroud is the best quarterback in this class. His one-game sample against Georgia was a perfect capstone to Stroud’s college career, as he was consistently efficient with the ball, made wise decisions and was poised enough to stay in the pocket and deliver the ball on time with accuracy. Stroud is more steady than explosive, but he’ll have the consistency needed to begin building up the Texans’ offense (which is probably a year away from being a year away, no matter what happens in DeMeco Ryans’ first offseason as head coach). If Stroud hits and the infrastructure is built properly around him, he can be this franchise’s Matt Ryan. 3. Panthers - Anthony Richardson *Projected trade with Cardinals 4. Colts - Will Levis 5. Seahawks - Jalen Carter 6. Jets - Bryce Young *Projected trade with Lions Another big trade, with the Jets ensuring that they’re not left out in the cold in the quarterback sweepstakes. After the Zach Wilson saga in 2022, Jets coach Robert Saleh needs an immediate answer to fix an offense that has yet to look promising during his tenure. Bryce Young is the quarterback the Jets were convinced Wilson was. He escapes pressure, keeps his eyes downfield and makes every throw. In spite of his size — which I expect to be a major talking point when the measurements are official — Young stands tall in the pocket and accepts that he will need to take hits. If the Jets’ offensive line were to stay upright and give Young time to throw, their passing game could take a leap in 2023. 12. Texans - Myles Murphy, Edge, Clemson Franchise cornerstones are lacking in Houston. With this pick, though, they add Myles Murphy — the edge rusher Ryans’ scheme needs to reach its peak — to a QB of the future (Stroud) and promising 2022 draft pick Derek Stingley Jr., whose play prior to injury indicated that he should be a big hit. Judging by his get-off, Murphy might have the best weight-adjusted 10-yard split in this entire draft class. He’s not the bendiest edge rusher, so don’t expect a crazy three-cone time, but he does convert his speed to power and has the wingspan to crush the pocket and win angles with long-arm rush moves.
