Wham! is still thriving 20 years into the apocalypse. I never played the game so I checked out the walkthroughs on Youtube, skipping the gameplay. HBO won't disappoint if kept under 5 seasons.
They will. Ellie's backstory is part of the DLC from the first game and the trailers from the show do tease it. I love how the show started with it's opening act, and immediately you can see the Chernobyl influences. And while it can be hard to separate the source material and look at an adaptation through a clear lens, once that happens you lose yourself. The prologue was near perfect, the performances solid, the atmosphere and world spot on. If there was any criticism, it was that the first episode was a little slow, but, like the game, now that the journey has truly started, it's gonna get intense.
Terrific, my only complaint is Ellie looks like kiddy Megan Fox in the game and George Washington in the show, the acting is great though.
I enjoyed the first episode, this will probably end up being the high point for video game adaptation and serve as a road map on how to do it properly.....
Yep, stretch it to a 10 episodic series. High production with good cinematography, slow burn it, introduce what the idea of the show is about, character intro and then you close it out with new wave music from 80s. I'll let 60s and 70s music slide. Depeche Mode.
This was as good a premiere episode as I’ve seen in a while. Just fantastic story-telling all around. Never played the game … not much of a gamer honestly…
I think it's funny that people wait until the show is out to start playing the game or watch all the cut scenes from the game. Why spoil yourself after waiting this long?
Understandable. It's only on PS so PC elitists and Xbox fan boys have to resort to YouTube playthroughs. Also the remake for ps5 is freaking $70 and they cut out the multiplayer option it originally shipped with.
Don’t play the game and also have you listen to the song, never let me down again by DM? The lyrics gave away the whole plot. Beware. The action scenes are grade A though.
I knew of the game. I remember you guys talked about the game in a gaming thread when it released. When I realized it was only available on PS, I didn't bother with it. That was almost 10 years ago. I don't mind spoilers but that's just me.
$70!!! Do they remaster it every generation and charge the same price of a new game? I guess I'll watch it then play it on PC when it comes out...
