New head coaches could be hesitant to roll with a rookie QB as well since their fates sorta tie together. BOB punted at the position for several years and was gonna roll with ******* tom savage for 2017, with #4 as qb2. I could imagine hot shot OCs seeing gametape of Broncos Russ or Kyler and thinking "Man, Kliff/Hackett are misusing this dude so bad, I could do a much better job."

This is might be correct assuming everything else is equal. However when you factor in Cal, his decision making, and “reports” that Caserio could already be on the hot seat, there is a lot more to consider if you are a candidate.

I nearly included the caveat, Assuming some degree of stability/commitment.

Russell Wilson's cap hit the next four seasons: $107MM, $85M, $49.5M, $31M. He's 35 next year. Your likely best-case scenario is that he's not *this* bad - but he is unmovable for the next four seasons, and you dealt away your '23 1 & 2 for him.

I wouldn't want any part of Russell Wilson if I were a new head coach. I'm not sure I'd want any part of Kyler Murray, either. And I don't agree the Cardinals have an abundance of talent. And Carolina is essentially the Texans - but w/o the 1.1.

Yes. Navigating McNair and, potentially, Caserio, could prove problematic. I'm hoping they clean house, top-to-bottom. But if not, the expectation is going to be improvement, as opposed to outright winning. A better coach - with an influx of more talent - could absolutely win 4-6 games next year and, in the same breath, look exceedingly more competent in doing so, getting him a much longer leash.

Your bar has been set by two terrible head coaches.

That's his cap hit if you release him. If you don't, his cap cost is relatively small next year ($22MM) and $35MM the following year. If you believe Wilson is fixable, it's arguably the best open job there is to win quickly.

I don't believe Wilson is fixable. He's 34; the Seahawks had no hesitation moving on. + whether he's fixable is not a question you'll be able to answer before accepting the job. If you accept and he's cooked, you, too, are cooked.

I really think that contract/situation is an albatross.

Agreed about Russ/Kyler and to think some want to draft a guy smaller and less athletic than them at 1-1.

Caserio should/will be back. I haven't figured out why posters are all hot to win 4-6 games. If you want to go that route then Young's your guy, but you're hurting the ability to win championships, all for 4-6 meaningless wins.

Agreed about the bar being set extremely low.

This is while I'm not advocating for this, I wouldn't mind Frank Reich becoming the next HC. Caserio/Reich would bring stability to the org and I believe Sirriani when he says Reich is the sharpest coach he's ever been around.

I want a guy that's all about football as the HC.

The McNair's will never hire a guy like this.

I don’t think he’s a good HC. Maybe should try to be a full time OC.

Kingsbury has a losing record as a head coach. No more of those please.
