It's an absolute imperative that the USMNT get the first and hopefully early goal. Iran is going to do their best to keep all 11 behind the ball as a tie is all they need. An early goal forces them out of the shell and to chase the game...which should open things up for the US to get another.

I know he won't do it, but I think the best 11 puts Weah at the 9 and opens a spot for Aaronson to start. Reyna has to be used earlier, depending on how the flow of the match is going. I'd even start him and have Aaronson prepped as the change of pace guy...wreaking havoc fresh in the 2nd half.

I'm not super confident. It just feels like Berhalter is going to get this wrong and it's going to be tied way too late in to the match. Without that clear goal scorer, the later this goes as a draw or, g-d forbid, being down, I'm just not sure we have what's needed to change the game.
