The Athletic: Bruno Fernando Will Start Over Sengun When He Returns

Garuba or sengun should b starting over Bruno. They earned it.

This nonsense of providing kpj vertical threat or being a defensive anchor ain't fooling nobody.

Kpj does not have it in him to utilize vertical threats via alley oops, it's not a go to move of his game yet.

 

At this point I’d be willing to trade Christopher because I don’t see how we can develop him with Green and KPJ commanding so many minutes.

I like Tate and he’s on a good contract, but Eason and KJ need all the minutes at the 3, so not sure there’s a place for him either. No more room to play him out of position at the 4 either.

EG should have been traded 2 yrs ago.

I see these 3 as the clear guys to trade by Feb.

So many are looking at individual player accolades and not the team. What I saw last night was the same things I saw before Bruno got hurt.

The Rockets looked more athletic and they were playing better defensively in the 1st qtr last night. Bruno will have to play himself back into shape but they looked explosive.

 

They were not playing better defensively. Bruno was one of the worst defenders on the floor last night

 

Agreed that our guard defense is a much bigger problem than our front court defense. But I was at the Portland game earlier this year and I still can’t get the Nurc domination out of my head.

it was a long ride back home in shame.

 

That is just our MO, our guards start by sucking on the perimeter and it continues to the basket, whomever is in there.

Absolutely. The team sucks on defense as a whole. No one player is fixing that. It’s going to take a systemic change and group buy in.

Just like when people hated Destiny Garuba's basketball because he looked goofy playing basketball, people want to hate Sengun's defense because he looks slow playing defense. Bruno is only marginally better than Sengun on defense (I think they are the same). Bruno's marginal defense does not out way Sengun's offensive impact. Bruno was getting absolutely roasted on defense. Trae was busting in his face all night. gross.

The rockets looked so good because KJ was inserted into the starting lineup.

 

He was rusty.....but did you notice that the Rockets guards went over
the top of the screens. Can't do that with Sengun playing drop back
coverage.

Trae and Murray would have torched us even more from quick step back 3's.

 

Can't let Alperen Sengun get the ball and be a part of a good defense under any circumstance.. They already spelled it "goon" can't change it now.

At 20 years old he's clearly at the point that if he doesn't start the next game, can go ahead and rule out him being a starter at any point in his career.

I don't want us ****ing around being bigger than the opposing team when we're 4-14 and have poor guard play. I think position names should be the priority.

 

Rust has nothing to do with it. He’s not a good defender and not a better player. So….

 

I can understand why Sengun fans are threatened. Sure nuff.
