    Back in the late '80's, I was thinking about opening a tropical fish shop. It had been one of my hobbies for over 15 years, I had come into a little money, so why not? It occurred to me that working in a shop here in Austin first to see what was involved might be a good idea, so that's what I did. It was a large shop with a significant salt water department. We sold octopuses, as well as squid, both trippy creatures, but especially the octopuses.

    Over the course of several months, I learned a lot about the business. Mainly, for my purposes, that I'd be a bloody lunatic if I opened my own shop. Have to say that it was a great deal of fun working in one, however.
