Astros were telling national guys in playoffs that they want to give Abreu a look as a starter as well. Make it 8 lmao.

Abreu has set himself up as the future closer of the team. No need to move him back into the rotation

He is much more valuable to you if he can sit 95-97 mph with his nasty slider for 5/6 innings. The Astros can continue to find relievers.

Of course, you don't fix what isn't broken but it is something worth looking at imo.

The Houston Astro‘s are the hottest ticket right now for anyone that wants to attend the general managers meetings

The trade I would look back into is Cedric Mullens.

I recently seen the Orioles might shop him to try gain a SP.

He's either bringing in a guy from outside that worked for Luhnow or promoting from within.

With Crane at the helm... Probably not. He allows the manager of the team to go above his superior. Not a comfortable position as GM.

I think Chazzy Fizzle earned himself a CF opening day spot imo.

Maybe Crane told JV "We want you. Let me know what you have offered. We will match it/beat it."

LOL at the adding DeGrom and JV scenario. It would be like the Warriors adding Durant.

If you could convince Yuli and Brantley to sign really cheaply and/or trade Garcia and Urquidy for some cheap talent at 1B and LF I’d love to see Crane troll MLB like that.

C’mon Crane if you’re not improving you’re falling behind. Let’s go into the tax and really dominate.

It's a salary dump. Trout with a full no trade deal has to approve. Garcia and Urquidy are cheap. Seven years of Club control total for the pitchers, 8 years of Club control (Remaining Contract) for Trout. You can't trade without these issues being part of the evaluation.

FYI According to Trade Values, we get hosed.
    Trout 14.0 excess value
    Garcia 45.6 Excess Value
    Urquidy 3.5 Excess Value

Too light I think on the return to the DBacks. More like Neris and Garcia if they go for starter and reliever.

He wasn't available during the deadline and he isn't available now.

Honestly the Angels are kind of dumb not to trade Trout. they’ve conclusively proven they can squander his brilliance time and again and be worse than mediocre even with him being amazing. I don’t believe they will ever trade him, but if they were to do so the Astros make a ton of sense.
if we re-signed JV we could do something like Brown, Garcia and Leon and Anaheim should probably take that in a vacuum (someone else might offer more).
An interesting deal might be something like Trout and Rendon for Garcia and LMJ. That’s 72M in and 20M or so out. So, Angels get a #2 and #3 type starter to pair with Ohtani at the low cost of 20M in their rotation plus 55M to spend. Rendon plays 1B for Houston.
For salary relief I’d send out Neris and Maton to clear 12M or so.

    Roster: JV/Framber/Javier/Brown/Urquidy- 55M
    Presley/Montero/Abreu/Stanek/Taylor/Martinez/Peredes/Mush.- 40M
    Maldy/Lee/Rendon/Altuve/Peña/Bregman- 90M
    Yordan/Trout/Tucker- 60M
    Chas/Hensley/Y Diaz/Meyers- 3M.
    250M in salary.

    lineup:
    Altuve
    Trout
    Yordan
    Bregman
    Tucker
    Rendon
    Peña
    Chas/Meyers/Hensley
    Catcher

I’d assume with a team like this you’d want to rotate the DH basically every day with regulars to make this a lot of rest time.

    I think that lineup ****s.

Id be happy to bring back Brantley, Verlander and Yuli if it means we are going to give a lot of starts to Yanier, Hensley and Brown. If we are going to bury them in AAA, no.

Or, perhaps he doesn't see the ball as well because Astros pitchers are pretty good. He'd be seeing it fine in Minute Maid against most other staffs.

Abreu is taylor made for the bullpen. He would need to develop an effective 3rd pitch to be a starter.

When Pressly's contract runs out, Abreu will be the most dominant closer in all of baseball.
