I don’t know, maybe the coach with the highest win percentage in houston rockets history and who totally revolutionized how the game is played

JVG, had the least to work with (not counting Silas) and did a lot with it. The 06-07 team had the 5th best record in the NBA while the starting five was: Rafer Alston, Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier, Chuck Hayes, and Yao Ming. The top six guys in minutes played that year were Alston, Battier, McGrady, Luther Head, Juwon Howard, and Hayes.

MDA imo. Turning Harden into a PG was pure genius. His rotations were conservative but always made sense.

Different team need different types of leadership. Milk Hair’s win percentage was great. He was the right person at that TIME for that TEAM. His clapping and yelling “play harder / stickie ball” worked. He was not much of a coach but he did win.

Silas tanking HARD as a rookie coach got us Green. That was OKC’s pick by all rights but Silas stay focused and deliver him to us.

JVG because he got the most with the least. Adelman gets honorable mention because his offense was beautiful to watch.

The one year Rick Adelman fully implemented his Sacramento motion style offense (when Yao was hurt because it didn't work with him) the Rockets lead the league in assists with Dragic & Lowry & Brooks all doing the primary ballhandling.

Except that was also the "Fools Gold" Kevin Martin era and they only won 43 games.

Nick Nurse was a loss to the Rockets. Had him at RGV and I think just let him leave for the Raptors.
Would've been the future Coach, Nick was really hidden.
Mike Dantoni was still running offense only plays.

    1. D'antoni (forever in Kerr's head and Kerr gets credit)
    2. Adelman (creativity and structure, highly underrated coach)
    3. McHale (.....)
    4. Bickerstaff (....)
    5. Van Gundy (this pains me, he is one of my favorite coaches. those rosters were dumpster fires, but its hard to separate it out)
    6. Silas (sorry bud, you signed on with Tilman Fertitta)

Steve Kerr fired Mike Dantoni but wouldn't take the blame when Kerr traded prime Shawn Marion for Old Fat Shaq in Phoenix.

The Suns team Declined after that Steve Kerr got fired soon after.

This thread is interesting. Good dig.
I am not sure who is best, but the worst is obvious.

Milk hairs percentage was due to having an young superstar harden entering his prime fully engaged. Look at what happened in 2016 once harden checked out, teams record plummeted and he was exposed

He was god awful coach. Finch really was the real offensive coach and Bickerstaff chimed in. Sampson was the defensive coach. McHale just walked around the sideline like Frankenstein

These threads are always funny when you remember how much hate Adelman for example got on this board during the later part of his tenure.
Time always makes people remember things differently.

It was because of the mcgrady fiasco. His refusal to play tmac who was coming of his own personal rehabilitation program without the team doctors or staff input that got half the tmac Stan’s and a lot of the people up in arms.

He wanted to ease tmac in and tmac wanted to rehab in games to get fit. Eventually it led to tmac asking for a trade to New York

That was a very niche part of it really and not the reason many wanted him gone.

I remember a ton of people calling Adelman out for not calling timeouts in the right situations, weird substitutions and rotations, playing favourites etc.
