Just saying if we had a real pg, sengun wouldn't stand out so much as a sore thumb in the offense. Can't implentment half court offense frequently since set plays are too difficult to do with kpj as pg.
The difference is that both of them have 3pt shots.....and neither of them are LOW POST ONLY guys.. If AlP would get to work on his 3s.....then we would be better. DD
They will give both Sengun and KPJ a shot this year. After all, in case they suck, at worst we are closer to getting Wemby Trade deadline comes, they will know if they are play-in or lottery material. That's when we could pack them + EG in a trade for an actual Center and/or PG.
Classifying Embiid and Jokic as “post up players” is sort of a stretch. Post ups per game with points per possession 1. Embiid : 7.8 (1.05 ppp) 2. Jokic : 5.2 (1.12 ppp) 23. Sengun : 2.3 (0.93 ppp) There isn’t some vast chasm in post up possessions between Sengun and the league leaders and as a rookie he was already top 25 in post possessions per game while playing a lot fewer minutes than the majority of guys ahead of him. I imagine if he’s getting 30 minutes a game he will probably be around 4 post up possessions per game and I think that’s plenty considering what the elite guys in the league are getting.
That's not really what happened at all. Most of the early lead was based off of a lot of movement and high post screens rather than just 5 out isos or dribble up 3s. The Rockets had 27 assists which is more than any game in the preseason. So no, it was not that narrative at all. Sengun is the spacing problem especially against a paint-packing team like the Heat and he doesn't have the physicality or verticality to hurt them inside. Has nothing to do with Jabari Smith.
I have to chuckle every time you hear the derogatory comment that 'Sengun isn't Jokic' as if that's a negative and should end the conversation of why the team should be looking to utilise Sengun. No, you let him get better in the hopes of one day he raises his game just like Jokic raised his. I mean it's not that hard a concept to grasp I would've thought.
LOL they are far more than post players they did not get their MVP's by being post players, even then if Alpi was near as effective as them in the post we would not be having this conversation. Nobody would say Embid and Jokic are post players and Jokic mainly plays in the high post anyway.
Thinks nobody on the Rockets or any rational observer. Why would he be on the keep list over KPJ when he has not even established himself as a starter or somebody who can play big minutes?
How is Sengun is not Jokic a negative comment? It's the truth. What concept are we meant to grasp because I don't see anyone saying he can't raise his game?
... same thing I said to the other guy. I was just responding to a post about the the post up game dying. When Jokic and embid both post up. No one said anything about Sengun being as good as them. But also you have to realize he's only 19. Jokic and Embid both came in the league and couldn't shoot much either. Around 30% from three. They were also much older. Give him some time.
How's he going to overcome his weaknesses? I don't care for KPJ that much but he's become a much better 3 point shooter and defender in his time here. Those are the types of things that can improve over time. I do't get how Sengun compensates for his lack of size/leaping ability at his spot, which hurts him on both sides of the floor. That's a ceiling right there. Shooting he can probably improve which is why it's critical to actually keeping him on the floor.
Jokic and Embid could shoot when they entered the leauge what are you talking about, It's why Embid went #1. Jokic shot 33% and Embid shot 36%. Sengun did not shoot even 30% so why are you comparing them? How is that around 30% did you forget we were on the internet?
Sengun having higher upside than KPJ is insane. KPJ can do many things on the floor. If he learns to be consistent, he’ll be a star. Sengun is good at 2-3 things and is god awful at everything else. Most of it are things that can’t be fixed imo
It is probably a shock to the Turkey fans who were hoping they finally had a superstar player in the NBA, unfortunately Sengun is not it. He is a very good player, a high level offensive player on the low block and an elite passer, but his D is very poor, especially in switches, he is very undisciplined in reaching keeping him in foul trouble a lot. And he just wasted an entire summer NOT working on his weaknesses.....he needs a 3pt shot, he needs a consistent high post game. Now, can he be effective, sure, as an ancillary player, but his slowness of foot requires you to have Jabari in there to cover it for him......Sengun needs help on D, big time. And he needs to work on that to where he doesn't......if he becomes a SCOLA level player 18-8 that would be huge. DD
he doesnt need range... with handles, shiftines and ability to draw fouls like that, he can get to the rim anytime he wants... its you who lacks range...you are shortsighted as they come...
