Was going off this tweet from Adam Spolane after his interview with Silas: Here's some additional insight on the quotes from from Ben Dubose - With that in mind, in a new interview from summer league with Adam Spolane of SportsRadio 610, Silas appears to hint at Jae’Sean Tate being the fifth starter, rather than Gordon. Among his comments:
I believe he probably will start Tate, but Tate is terrible. I'd hope it was a temporary situation and we'd move to someone else pretty quickly.
HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets today announced they have traded Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss, and David Nwaba to Oklahoma City in exchange for Derrick Favors, Maurice Harkless, Ty Jerome, Théo Maledon [tay-oh mal-eh-DOAN], a 2026 second round pick, and cash considerations.
I agree with that rotation for the most part. One caveat, EG gets minutes at guard and the 3 spot. Moving Gordon opens up a considerable amount of play time for Christopher at guard and Tari at the 3 spot which opens up minutes for KJM at the 4 spot and he'd get some time as a small ball 5. Gordon just has to go.
The thing I wonder about with EG is if he's going to play in back to backs and how that might affect continuity in the lineup / rotation. Has there been any mention of this?
Very minor thing but for those who care, the trade did get revised from the original agreement. They ran into problems getting the protections/rollover on the 2025 Atlanta 2nd approved, so that part got scrapped and the teams went straight to the 2026 agreement, instead (second-best pick among OKC, Dallas, Philly).
Absolutely trash post. Kenyon Martin Sr. has done more to stunt Jr.'s growth than anyone. Convinced a 20 year old he was good enough to start on a championship team when he's lucky to even be playing. As if Tate is in charge of Martin's growth and not KJFMartin. Tari Eason zero NBA minutes, 1 million HOF nomination by impatient Rockets honks. :eyeroll: Idk what the point of this trade was... free 2nd round pick? Whoopty doo. They still need to cut like 5 players and really make a decision on roster spots.
Not sure if you're aware of the thick irony in your post? On the one hand you make fun of impatient and overreacting fans Then you turn around and are impatient about the fact we turned guys we were going to waive into a contract possibly worth keeping for matching purposes (patience) and acquired an asset in a 2rp too. I think Maledons contract is also NG - so from a $$ perspective we may have added salary, but still have plenty of room to move
My guess is EG will start and boost his numbers then we trade him by the deadline to either a contender for a low pick or a team that needs to dump salary. A future low FRP will have a lot more value if NBA decides to allow high school players to enter the league again. Maybe we'll be doing the same for favors. We probably need to explore moving KJ as well since his dad is probably in his ear 24/7 telling him he's a superstar... shades of Bagley and at least Bagley was a lotto pick.
Silas is insane if he believes that Tate is best floor spacer for Sengun. His defense is good but it dropped off last season.
Is Mo Harkless 100%? If so, then he could surprise. But Favors us the only one who is a fit and legit playable on this team.
With Rockets emphasis on defense this offseason, is Harkless salvageable for this Rockets team or just another cut/trade dump?
