Haven't paid attention to Favors the last two years but I remember him being pretty important against us in the Utah series. Doesn't mean much now but I like him as a vet and as a trade piece. Surprised OKC couldn't get some kind of pick for him. I wonder if Favors + Gordon is better than just Gordon
Sets us up nicely for next off season as we will have a lot of cap space to go chasing free agents to put around our young core.
Favors is a serviceable backup center. In addition to the 2nd rounder it shores up our front court. Haven’t watched Harkless much recently but he’s known as a good defender. We gave up absolutely nothing so I like this.
Theo Maledon is really interesting. Only 21 and had a little bit of a break out after the All Star break last season. Pre All Star he averaged 4.3ppg 1.6rpg 1.2apg on 31 percent shooting and 21 percent from three Post All Star he averaged 11.4ppg 4.0rpg 3.8apg on 41.5 percent shooting and 34.1 percent from three He started 7 games and averaged 32.3mpg and averaged 16.1ppg 5.7rpg 5.0apg 0.3bpg 1.0spg 41 percent shooting, 34 percent from three.
Well now that Nwaba isn't taking up another roster spot, I would assume Rockets keep Favors around. Harkless, Maledon, Bruno, and Hudgins will be the casualties? Leaves us with: KPJ/Ty Ty/Nix Green/Christopher/Mathews EG/Tate/Tari Jabari/KJ/Garuba Sengun/Favors/Boban Seems like a good mix of veterans and young guys.
My take on Maledon is that he will be cut. OKC is rebuilding, clearly full speed ahead on the Wemby sweepstakes, they must not see anything in him to not keep him around and just throw him in this trade.
I think it would be EITHER Boban OR Favors who make the final roster. I don't see there being room for 2 vet cheerleading Cs to mentor the young guys. Favors sticking around would surely only be for $$ matching on potential trades later?
