Damn just checked. The reviews are pretty bad for Capital One Banks in Houston. Lol.

 

Credit Unions all the way.

Chase, Wells Fargo, BofA, etc. just Google the lawsuits and scandals from cheating their customers.

 

None of the major banks give a crap about the regular consumer account holder (they want you to overdraft, fees from poor people are a huge source of income), customer service is a joke, it's all about Private/Personal/Client Banking and Corporate accounts.

Are you just now figuring this out? It's been this way since deregulation about ~30 years ago destroyed the private, local, single location bank and everything merged.

 

People with the means to do business that requires a bank.

 

Weirdly, Capital One is the only bank I haven't had all those issues with. I've had those issues with damn near all of the bigger banks(BoA, Chase, Wells, Comerica) but Capital One has been excellent for me for over a decade now. In every way.

 

That's great, don't ever switch banks. You can google "private bank houston" and it's now the same 5 or 6 conglomerates that pop up.

Compass Bank used to be great and Texas-local, but they've merged with Spaniards and Argentines and who knows who else (BBVA). Frost (Cullen) Bank is the only real Texas based bank I know of, and they're good, or have been good to us.

 

I went into a bank for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time in the last 20 years last week. It was very quiet, but there was 1 teller and 4 or 5 customers. And about 4 or 5 other employees doing I don't know what, although one of them did help me when the sole teller was busy. I could seriously nap in a place like that -- very peaceful, very forest-like. Very odd.

 

Tell 'em to put up a bookcase and some lounge chairs, library-style.

I go inside very infrequently to sign papers or access the safety deposit boxes. Everyone should have one, with their birth certificate, passport, whatever other documents and copies/originals of titles/deeds/whatnot (things that if your house burns down you might really need without jumping through 2 months of government hoops or 40 hours of a lawyer to replace). Also, you can stash fun stuff in it.

 

You guys clearly don't go by the banks in the poor side of town. Those are usually really really busy, especially on Friday and Saturday.

And yet, there are three banks on the corner of every street.

 

anytime I need cash for a certain amount for a certain item, it’s usually on a Friday afternoon/evening in the not so pleasant neighborhoods.
