I don't care how talented they are, I would never risk a high draft pick on a giant. Been there. Done that. Never again.
Am I reading into this wrong or are some people celebrating this because this validates their opinions? As a Chet skeptic myself I feel bad for the guy and hope he proves people wrong, myself included. NBA is better off with more unique talent not what ifs.
It’s not a rumor, he’s had a foot injury already. Edit* Can’t find the foot injury, I think they rediagnosed it as a psoas injury and has had a stress fracture in his fibula
Don't recall. Probably an article I read or something on youtube. Not sure. I found this just now. Doesn't mention any foot issues, but several other that he's dealt with. He's young and appears to have a frame that will fill out with age. Not as skinny as Chet. So maybe it won't be an issue. Teams will take the chance. Would have to be something really bad to pass him up. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sb...jury-history-muscle-psoas-back-nba-draft-2023
Not a great start for a guy whose biggest concern was injury potential. But, this is a super premature thread.
You are not reading it wrong. There will always be twisted pieces of crap who celebrate injuries. At the end of the day, injuries suck and no one should have to suffer through them. It's truly unfortunate and hopefully he can move past this without incident.
Get Tari Eason out of there asap. We don't want him playing in unsafe conditions. I feel bad for Chet.
Heart goes out for the young fella! Hope he doesn't turn out to be another "Sam Bowie"! I always thought he shouldn't try to "force" weight on but just work out and let his body mature to whatever weight/size it "naturally" adds on it's own. It's a lesson we could learn from when worrying about forcing weight on our own guys (not gonna say any names). Doesn't really look like he slipped though and there was no "stepping on" either. Just one of those things that happened. He actually played really good, fluid defense! Again just heartbreaking for the guy!
Spoiler Thank you Basketball Jesus for helping the Rockets dodge a bullet. Thank you Basketball Jesus for Jabari Montsho Smith Jr. We pray to you Basketball Jesus Jabari Montsho Smith Jr. has a long, productive, healthy, injury-free career with the Houston Rockets. In Basketball Jesus name, AMEN.
If this turns out to be a significant injury but heals quickly and he's good for next season there still has to be a lot of concern because that was a pretty normal looking position for his foot as he got in position to defend.
The injuries will continue to mount, it's inevitable. How often/severity is the question. I feel bad for him as a competitor but high risk + high reward = disappointment.
