Unfortunately this is how legislation gets done. There is always going to be stuff that not everyone agrees with. The overall issue with legislation is does this improve things. Do the costs outweigh the benefits?

Even if this bill doesn’t end up addressing the carried interest, and that should be in a separate bill anyway. This bill will still be an a large improvement addressing drug prices and the environment.

Voodoo economics is voodoo economics is voodoo economics. The only reason it worked for Reagan is because taxes were way too high. Bush 1 raised taxes and Clinton enjoys one of the best economies eva.

That being said it boils down to private sector productivity as the real push behind Clinton's economy was the tech boom

I know I caught for defending flack for defending Trump on some outside issues like collision. That being said I have long accepted that the Democrats are running the country in terms of actually caring. They are like two parties and Republicans are a rogue third party

West Virginia is classic lower middle class whites depending on government aid but buying into the less government is awesome mantra.

It has the 49th ranked average income only ahead of Mississippi.

Not all, but there are a lot of whites that live in a fantasy land that believe that blacks and Hispanics suck the government dry financially and that big cities steal from the working class man..... without realizing that these small "fly over" towns and dead red states are often the ones that are taking a large amount of "handouts". These same blue collar workers in places like the Midwest don't work at all during the winter months and take assistance.

We shouldn't even look at it like that .... the purpose of a safety net isn't to judge those that need it.... but it appears that those that judge it the harshest also often use it.

It is a form of incredible entitlement.

This is another thread topic but their is gonna be a point when Republicans if they haven't and their and their voters realize Hispanics are not a drain. When I work construction, all the skilled trades are dominated by Hispanics. These are large commercial projects. Home construction is almost exclusively Hispanic.

Employers, the wealthy Republicans using the ignorant voting base love Hispanic workers at every level. It's becoming an issue but I digress

I’ve brought this up in a couple of other threads. Yes many poor rural whit voters are blaming minorities for their problems. That is misplaced and it is scapegoating minorities. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t legitimate problems in those areas.

In a state like WV the collapse of coal mining along with the consolidation of farming and mining is wiping out rural economies. At the same time the movement of younger people to urban areas is causing a brain and energy drain. With many of these areas hopeless economic and cultural basket cases drugs like meth and opioid addiction are running rampant.

The solutions to these problems aren’t easy but as long as they largely aren’t addressed it will just lead to more grievance and bitterness among those people.

Bye bye, Joe Manchin (D-WV). This Senate seat is virtually certain to switch over to a Republican in 2024. As far as Joe Manchin for President, he has no more chance of that than Liz Cheney, which is none.
