I know why they act surprised when law enforcement collects evidence from someone without telling them beforehand. All they want is to properly prepare the evidence to be examined- These people wish this was a banana republic

The only thing more dangerous than holding Trump to the same legal standards as everyone else is not holding Trump to the same standards as everyone else. We're here in this place in part because Watergate, Iran-Contra, and Torture/Plame/etc. were never taken to their legal endpoint and we allowed Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Cheney to escape the consequences of their actions. Now, when Trump has pushed the envelope way farther than anyone else before, we have to wrestle with all the problems of bringing an ex-President to justice. It won't be pretty but it really is the only way forward if we care about the United States of America as it was meant to be. Bad cases make bad precedent, but shrugging it off is an even worse precedent. (In other news, 45th takes the 5th. In a civil case.)

Just a few characteristics of one that fit the GOP agenda are... widespread government corruption tyrannical government civil unrest coup attempts/insurgency widespread poverty (coming soon) significant stratification of social classes enormous gap between the haves and have nots lack of a middle class ( coming soon) Even some banana republics offer free or affordable healthcare.
Given the level of honesty I've come to expect from his camp, it's probably because the attorneys at Mar-A-Lago gave the copy that the FBI provided them to this lady 5 minutes before the interview began.
Good article. Also remember we have had officials busted for taking documents before. Sandy Berger was. And General Petraeus was as well. This is the kind of thing that has been prosecuted. Neither Petraeus nor Berger were ex-Presidents though they did serve as part of Presidential staffs

I mean the term comes from Western corporations dominating south American sovereign nations where the vast majority of profits return back to places like the US and the citizens in those south American countries pushing back and being labeled communist by US news media and government while the CIA installs violent right wing authoritarians with bribes of stakes in those western companies to maintain the status quo. So ya Banana Republic is merely something that can only exist from nations like the US encroaching on the sovereignty of those nations.
