only problem is KPJ does not have the talent level as the people you named above. I don't care about great talents throwing fits, I do care about bad players throwing fits. KPJ at the moment is a mediocre player with a history of terrible attitudes/incidents, so he can either turn into a great player, or stay mediocre but quit with his bs.

Ah there is the disconnect I believe he is an all star level talent.

imho, he is the best basketball player on the Rox roster.

For the young core, we factor in age, expectations and growth projections. For me it was Sengun and Green.

If going by measurable stats on both sides of the ball (last season), the best player on the Rockets was actually Eric Gordon.

    All star and kpj LOL

same folks who tried to pull the same BS with wood. Or any other of the long list of scrub/mediocre players around here with the same laughable obsession and swear that they have a ton of value but they end up showing the opposite. Gtfoh

Good point. None. KPJ having another meltdown is a risk, but one I, personally, would take given the upside. Giving the kid a 15-18m contract for 3 years is really not that much of a risk, given what our cap space is going to like in 2023 and with the crap FA’s available. They may actually need that contract to meet the floor.

    Duncan Robinson
    Joe Harris
    Aaron Gordon
    Dinwiddie
    Fournier
    Barnes
    Dort

Those are on the list that one way or the other deserves a higher pay than 22yo KPJ.
But instead of just thinking "who earns more" than KPJ we should think "who earns less" and find out whether KPJ would also become overpaid with 15M

Rockets FO have the upper hand by KPJ being a RFA in 2023.
So you let him play one extra season and prove his value.
Regardless of the outcome, you wait for other teams to offer, and you make a decision.

We are in the search for our core. One more season could tell if KPJ is a lock or others should take his place.

Yeah, it's kind of funny, but at the end of the day he's pro Rockets so that's why I think he'll come around.... but I think KPJ should remember all of those rooting against him and hold it against them once he proves them wrong.

Oh for sure! I respect his opinions even when I don’t agree. You’re right, if KPJ does well, he’s gonna be behind him! He’s not like @King1 who personally hates KPJ like he stole his girlfriend or something

You really keep acting like we're arguing to cut him when we're just saying don't give the dude a huge contract that he hasn't earned

To me the argument is what is a “huge” contract. In today’s NBA and with a growing cap and floor 15-20m is not bad compared to yesteryear. Also taking into account our current committed salaries after this year, 15-20m is not much of a gamble. I expect the Rockets get it done around 15m for 3 or 4 years depending on options. We will see.

I trust Stone on this, the Dejounte Murray contract sounds about right.

The KPJ twitter cult is insane, makes it tough to be a fan of his.

That is just IF, and there has been no major issues on the Rockets.
