I would be disappointed if Stone passes on Chet if Jabari and Paolo are gone. It would take a monumental deal for Stone to move out of the 3rd pick imo. Moving down one spot to 4 wouldn't be bad as Sacramento puts a defensive big next to Sabonis. We should/would extract at least a future 1st rounder from the Kings for moving down. Moving down to the 5th spot is improbable considering Detroit can't trade any 1st round picks until 2028 IIRC due to the 1st they owe OKC by way of Houston. If they include Saddiq Bey with #5 I'd think about it. 6th? You're looking at now missing out on Holmgren/Smith/Banchero and possibly Ivey and Murray. You have to be damn sure that next tier plus whatever you get in return is worth it. Sharpe (6th) plus Myles Turner for the 3rd and Gordon? Then you use the 17th on Eason? I don't know...
I think Chet is clearly the prize of this draft and I would be so disappointed. I think I'd have to disappear from rockets talk for a while Jabari in a trade down to 4 would infuriate me but if it was for #4, 2023 unprotected and Davion Mitchell I'd be fine.
Would you take Ivey or Murray in this scenario? Adding Mitchell is nice but now you have Green/Porter/JC/Mitchell in the backcourt. Murray would fit in perfectly at the 3 in the starting lineup but Ivey has a higher perceived ceiling.
I would take Ivey or I would trade down again to #6 for Myles Tuner and take Sharpe. re-read it. I would be infuriated if they traded down and didn't take Jabari. I'd be broken if they didn't take Chet
If we were getting Murray or Ivey and an unprotected 1st from Sac or Indiana, I would live with that. But I still want Paolo.
Holy chit! That's some news! Basically we are saying we are PASSING on Chet (or Jabari) if that is the case. This means that Banchero is #1 on Stone's board.
If by some reason Banchero isn't there and Kings want Holmgren, I 10/10 would do a deal with them. Finessing another asset and collecting Ivey is a great move.
Murray and Sengun would take a beating as the front court. Murray is a 6'8 pf with a nice 3 point stroke. Sengun needs taller and stronger help
I think if you're playing the draft game, you have to say, "if Paolo's is not there, we're trading back and asking for assets." That way, when you draft him at #3, you can say: "that was our guy all along." Now it's another thing entirely to pass on Chet or Jabari (if available).
I just checked OKC's forum and they're all happy with Chet as their 2 pick. They think the gamblers are stirring the pot with Pao going as 1 or 2.
LOL. both Banchero and Holmgren are more like Durant than Smith, it's amazing the blinders some have with Smith.
