Not entirely true. The guy gets away with being terrible because he is Republican. The wheel chair definitely adds to the effect though. The teachers. It’s becoming more and more apparent that as a teacher, I will soon have four job titles; teacher, coach, counselor, and soon armed security officer. We’ll have fully locked down doors, metal detectors, pat downs, armed teachers, and probably at some point, barbed wired fences. We’ll take up all of the kids phones every class, and make them sign in and out to go to the bathroom. These kids will be more prepared for the prison system than the real world.
It does sound like prison. Boy has this country changed since I was a kid when it comes to school. It's sad.
While everyone wants to blame the Uvalde PD let's not lose sight of that ideally we shouldn't even get to this point of having a messed up teenager get heavily armed, body armor and the go shoot up a school.
Buffalo = white supremacy Texas = gun laws Columbine = Marilyn Manson Virginia Tech = girl dissing nerd
Those are two separate events though. We don't have to lose sight of either. As a society we have neglected mental health and neglected the nuclear family model and we made it easier to have guns. This is all in the name of the almighty dollar. On the other hand, there appears to be potential incompetence on the PD. I rather wait until we get more details to fully comment since stories have been all over the place. I don't think we have lost sight of either and both issues are being discussed on this forum and on national news.
Because in Texas, anyone can now aquire and carry military grade weapons thanks to these POS jackasses: This 18 year old kid was able to purchase two AR-15 rifles and 375 rounds of ammunition. When he was finally taken down they found SEVEN 30 round magazines. He still had 210 shots available. Let that sink in for a moment. He could have easily killed 50, 100 or more teachers, staff and children.
How are the lies getting less and less believable the longer we get from the event? There needs to be a federal investigation into what happened here. Our cowardly governor cannot be entrusted with the task.
God forbid we ask the cops or expect them to put themselves in harms way or start any conversation without thanking them for their courage and bravery (as was done here)
Good points and we should deal with both. that said though it's easier to focus on punishing a handful of incompent LEO than it is to focus on deeper structural problems. The Uvalde PD needs to be held accountable but it never should've gotten to this point.
My guess is that Abbott and many others will pin all the blame on the Uvalde PD and not want to talk about any other reform around firearms.
The locals stopped people willing and able to enter from doing so for 30 minutes until they decided that was insane and just went in anyways. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...l-kill-gunman-local-police-initiall-rcna30941 Federal agents who went to Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday to confront a gunman who killed 19 children were told by local police to wait and not enter the school — and then decided after about half an hour to ignore that initial guidance and find the shooter, say two senior federal law enforcement officials. The BORTAC team, armed with tactical gear, at first did not move toward the gunman. After approximately 30 minutes passed, however, the federal agents opted of their own volition to lead the “stack” of officers inside the school and take down the shooter. The more these stories come out, the worse it will be.
Those politicians would rather have this stangant cesspool than risk getting voted out for being on record to laws that have uncertain futures and consequences. I think people at all levels, top and bottom, are losing faith in the process due to some all-or-nothing sense of perfectionism. There's a tucker video trending on yt about every liberal policy being a failure. No it's not a failure, you **** eating mind parasite. Most accomplished what they set out to do but inevitably left consequences that became inconvenient or unpopular. Well guess what, a similar video about Con policies could be made as well. We had 8 years of ****ing bush and a solid half decade of Con ruled congress that these ninnies love to conveniently forget. There is no one and done. You might also have to get off your ass, do a little upkeep, and invest. That's called life, and i dont get where the expectation came that politicians were made or designed to Fix Things. They began believing in their BS (to exude authenticity) and we just handed them the keys because no one in their right mind has time for treading knee deep in that ****,
