If Batting Order was determined by fielding position:

    1. DH Alvarez

    2. C Maldonado

    3. 1B Gurriel

    4. 2B Altuve

    5. 3B Bregman

    6. SS Pena

    7 LF Brantley

    8. CF Seri/McCormick/Meyers

    9. RF Tucker

    Bregman
    Tucker
    Altuve
    Alvarez
    Yuli
    Brantley
    Pena
Castro (Flip Castro and the CF when Maldy is playing)
CF (I lean Siri because he is more athletic so higher ceiling, but Chas is a safer option)

The team doesn't have a guy that jumps off as a leadoff guy (been true for a long time), but Alvarez & Bregman have the strongest OBP and ability to work a count, and it certainly wasn't bad having Springer leadoff, and I decided Bregman over the monster power of Yordan. There certainly could be an argument for swapping Yuli and Altuve, but I think this is more ideal. You of course could also choose to abandon the RLRL batting order and drop Altuve or leadoff with Alvarez or Tucker and go LRLR. Most important thing is Tucker has to bat sooner in the lineup (How does he hit 6th with Altuve, Yuli, & Brantley having a day off). And why give 2 starters the day off the day before an off day when it is the 4th day of the season?

Looking at our lineup, I just realized how slow as a team we are on the base paths. No real speedsters other than CF. I would guess we are probably in the bottom quartile in speed.

After the 3 CFs, Niko Goodrum is the next fastest in sprint speed ahead of Altuve and Tucker.

I might tweak Gurriel to second in the order since his forte is Batting Champion rather than power and Altuve has emerged as more of a power threat. But otherwise I like it. Also, Tucker hits more doubles and would keep the slower (not slow) Gurrriel from hitting into as many DPs.

    Oops! Looking at another line-up

    Tucker
    Altuve [Yuli Tweak]
    Alvarez
    Yuli [Altuve Tweak]
    Brantley
    Pena
Castro (Flip Castro and the CF when Maldy is playing)
CF (I lean Siri because he is more athletic so higher ceiling, but Chas is a safer option)

I don't know how this happened in a quote.

Dummies, SS is obviously Casey Candaele's spot.

    And Chuckie Carr in CF

Or, Bagwell at SS if he could only learn to throw left handed. I did in slow pitch softball, why can't he?

I generally respect you gentleman, but questioning Stanky's place on this team is a pretty egregious offense.

I did give consideration to Chuckie Carr, but he didn't make the greatest play I've ever seen in person.

Last time I went to a game (Orioles) about 6 or 7 years ago, I realized I'll never SEE anything on the field of play again. I heard action, but following the ball was impossible. I was almost as clueless as the person on the Apple+ broadcast team.

The bane of the Internet is all of the "writers" (and I use that term loosely) due to the proliferation of web sites.

I'd say that article looks like it was written by a 7th grader, but I'd be insulting 7th graders.

Be nice now, the writer made an "Altuve is short" pun and got 1 out of his 9 projected lineup spots correct...what more do you want?

He also has 2 Center fielders and no left fielder. Similar to our resident lineup provider.

I don't hate this Batting order. Alvarez with the Flu. Siri/McCormick is more of a platoon than a sub. I always like Castro, particularly with the arm he's show this year. We're not losing as much defensively from Maldenado as in the past and he adds at the plate.

If I'm going to criticize the line-ups I don't like, I have to compliment the ones I do like.
