we uh…went to the World Series? And nearly won it? That’s a pretty big deal last time I checked. SMH. You can never win on this board
Does price matter at all? You want to pay $8MM a year for 3 years for a guy who had an outstanding half-season for Seattle? He had negative value in 2018 and 2020. 2019 was better because he missed the whole year so he had zero value. And he was OK-but-not-great for the Astros.
What’s the going rate for a guy like him? I feel he did well. Maybe my range is 3 years 20 for him. I think he can keep up his game. He cashed in on being a part of a World Series roster. I just hope we can get a few arms that are decent going forward. Edit: I really didn’t like losing Toro from the start.
Time to bring McHugh back where he belongs. He would be a fine Graveman replacement at the right price.
Also, and this is important but people tend to forget this, Toro kind of sucks (if your goal is to compete for World Series titles).
I think people are jaded by his hot week right after the trade, and the numbers solely against the Astros (including the grand slam off Graveman). He was actually a net negative down the stretch for the Mariners… when they needed wins the most to try and scratch into the playoffs, and basically regressed every month after he started getting regular playing time.
