I hope this doesn't descend into another Great Angel Controversy. ;)
Smeg hates them... thinks they're the spawn of the devil. Mrs. Smeg loves them and coerced Smeg into buying at least one. If you're out there, Smeggy, how did that work out?

    hmm the angel controversy

have had them before and they where grump nippy ucks when they got big

the mrs loves em.... so i go two grey striped veil tails and now they are pretty large... their names are SOF and YOF they don't seem that nippy to the other fish but for a while YOF wasn't playing nice with SOF and catching him round and making him hide behind the filter.... then a few weeks ago my niece who also loves the angels wanted some mroe so i got a white one and another grey one... but they are still small.....

the 4 of them seem to be playing nice right now and amusing themselves........

my school of black neons, cardinals and neons are reasonably large now, as large as they get and they seem to hang in a different part of the tanks to the devils.... nevertheless if the Devils go for anything more than cheap neons then they are straight back to the shop

another point... the rainbow market here in australia seems permanently screwed.. the breeds i like reds, and bosemani's seem very rare now and expensive.... so i was thinking

i might give Discus a go..... have spoken to one store who i know quite well and he thinks i don't really need to do that much to water and young discus can actually adapt quite well.. thoughts anyone????

I'd say these fish have diead and they've been eaten before youve seen them.

I had a tank a few years ago with an Angel fish and just neons in it.

A couple went missing without a trace and one day I managed to see one that had died and was almost all gone.

My Angel Fish is still alive and kicking in a much bigger tank these days.

OK the neon were about _______ long. The store I bought them from had them named mini neaons on the side of the tank. They weren't babies. I saw all 5 of my neons in the tank yesterday morning before I left for work but what you guys are sayings is in the 10 hours I was at work they could've died and been eaten? Which fish would eat others dead?

I only have a 10 gallon tank but as I said in my original post, this setup has worked for more than 3 months now.

    Smeggy....

make damn sure you are at the top of your game when you get Discus...they require special handling to ensure optimum color and health.

I love the way they look....but they need almost perfect water...and some addition stuff added to keep them in perfect health.(peatbog?)

    Btw...Discus and Angels are related...:p

    now.....re: the Angel contraversy

it is not unusual to hear of Angels picking on other angels...that is mainly where you hear the stories of aggressive angels from..Smeg's experience s about normal....one Angel will always try to assert its dominance over the other angels...but they normally leave other breeds alone.

Im gonna have to get a current pic of my tank up...my angels are looking way cool...
