Not that my opinion means anything, but I'd give him being a leader of this team close to 0% chance of happening

Wood under a better coach might be interesting. Although in a different role, he’s already bounced around a few teams.

I think Wood is talented. But I’m really not sure if he’s good enough to be a foundational piece of our team. I do however think he could get us a nice return if we trade him sooner than later. Wood for some future picks would be ideal.

The Rockets are 7-57 in their last 64 games.

The backcourt of Porter and Green is the worst starting backcourt I can think of in the modern NBA. There is literally nothing that they are average or better at.

I have been looking for AD elements but, given the differences in their builds, AD looks significantly smoother and more stable in his movements on the court.
I don't really see weight room time as CWood's fast track to AD 2.0 - the one career / game type I would look at in parallel comparison would be (a healthy) Brandon Ingram's. Think of him when assessing trade value...

    Rockets suck, trade Wood.

    Coach sucks, trade Wood.

    Green sucks, trade Wood.

    KPJ sucks, trade Wood.

Rockets picked the wrong player with 2nd overall pick, trade Wood.

Maybe Wood is not the biggest problem on this team.

Stop making him the scapegoat, there are no easy fixes but strategy of getting rid of your best proven young talent for future mystery boxes is stupid.

Especially because the FO has not proven an ability to evaluate talent, develop talent or retain talent.

Agreed for the most part. I don’t think Wood has nowhere near AD’s trade value. AD also moves way better, but a weight room dedicated & defensive minded Wood could give us a poor man’s AD and that’s pretty good if you ask me. I just haven’t seen any jumps in CW’s development and I’m not sure if it’ll ever come.

    Hairstyles.

We actually started DaQuan Jeffries and Avery Bradley/DJ Augustin for a number of games last season - so, better than that? . But othewise you're right.

    I'd trade him to Charlotte.

Something like Wood for PJ Washington, Mason Plumlee and a top 7 protected first, or maybe try to pry Bouknight and/or Kai out of it.

Why Charlotte? They make sense. LaMelo, Hayward, Bridges, Wood gives them a 4some to definitely make the playoffs if not be dangerous. Wood needs a LaMelo esque PG, plus Hayward/Bridges creates space.

At the same time, their 1st rounder could be kind of interesting and PJ Washington is still young but Bridges is the breakout "star" player now other than LaMelo.

Other options = Wizards, Mavs, Warriors. Highly doubt the Pacers would take him for Myles Turner, but I'd be all over that...

This is correct, but a year ago at this time James Harden and Russell Westbrook were still on the Rockets. Might be a bit early.

But we are going to have to start seriously considering what to pay him or if to pay him after this season.

Put him in best position to succeed to maximize his production and improve his value FIRST.

This stretch 4 role is beyond incompetent.

Imagine shetting all over the top of your brand new Porsche before having potential buyers come by for a test drive.

Sad thing is I actually had to stop and think which is a worse backcourt.

Green and Porter may grow into a very good back court in time... but at 19 and 20 years old? Eww

Not just Harden and Westbrook, could not retain.

Prince and JA, poor evaluation of value.

    Oladipo, see above.

    Olynyk, decide not to retain.

    Theis, poor signing.

    Wall, paid to sit.

Green, Garuba, JC - TBD but not looking good in terms of evaluation, development or fit.

Sengun - bright spot but played sparingly and role not maximized.

Didn't we sign Wood because he could stretch the defense? He's not exactly an interior destroyer

I think he should be moved before his contract is up because I don't see us re-signing him. I think a deal with the Warriors would be great if we could get Wiseman or Kuminga and a future pick. Maybe could work Eric Gordon in there as well somehow and do something like Wood/Gordon/House for Wiseman/Wiggins/Lee.

Wood ain’t a brand new Porsche…. He’s a head case journey man who puts up numbers so I’m not sure what vehicle that is?

So now we need to gear the Rockets towards maximizing Wood? IDK…

Wood has very little miles on him and Rockets just acquired him last season, practically brand new.

Semantics, is the analogy giving you too much trouble?

    Yes, stretch from 5 spot.

Wood can get by most 5's with ease. Not as easy vs 4's and 3's.

Also Wood is much better rim protector than Theis but playing on perimeter has him further from basket.

And playing Wood as a forward is empowering him to playmake much more than he did last season.
