UH use to wax that A$& all the time! That's why UT didn't want them in the Big 12 and now UT is still running
I think it's fair to say that UH and UT had a pretty contentious and competitive relationship until the dark ages set in (basically post Arkansas leaving the SWC). I think the record at that point was something like 11-7-1. That's a 40-60 split. Probably better than OU and A&M had. Darrell Royal and Bill Yeoman had the utmost respect for each other, and with good reason. It's always funny to me how boomer Longhorns and Cougars seem to get along so well, but all the animosity and contempt is saddled with the Gen Xers and beyond. There's a quote that has been floating around in Cougar circles for a while, I cannot source it, but it's come up in 2 or 3 moments in my alumni lifetime (once was at a dinner with then President Jay Gouge, once was at a ring ceremony). The quote goes something like this; "When asked why Houston was excluded from the Big 12, *insert important UT figurehead (President or AD likely) involved in the SWC dissolution here* said, 'yall just won too damn much'". It's not a boast or troll to say that UT hated losing to UH pretty damn bad and that inviting them to the SWC was considered a mistake. We can all agree on these basics and not have our pride hurt.
