Giants have been clutch and win important games all year. Game is at home, I think they'll find a way to get it done. Probably some late theatrics, and Dodgers choke it away
4 rookies, but they are all damn good. Red Sox were too comfortable at home. They're whole lineup was going off. Ray's offense was always going to be risk/reward, and it flunked out when they needed it.
Their pitching held up, their offense fell off the face of the earth. 2017-202? Brewers might be the quietest good team since the 97-05 Astros.
I'm sure that happens a lot and nothing wrong with being prepared. Their club could afford it. Imagine winning and NOT having champagne. They would have to go Applebees or something!
I always thought it was the home stadium’s vendors that supplied the champagne, regardless of whichever team won.
I mean doesn't every team do this and have shirts and merchandise pre-made. Wasn't there the joke of like Bills, Jazz or etc. championship gear in South America or so because they just needed to get rid of it.
Yordan and JD Martinez is a push with Yordan having slightly better numbers. Schwarber has more power than Yuli but La Pina is a better hitter. Only real advantage for Boston is pitching and Sale looked terrible and is a bum in the postseason.
Not that I ever put any stock in these since the writers almost always have clear biases and agendas, but when you list McCullers' injury status as the main caveat for picking the Red Sox in 6, but totally gloss over the fact that Sale couldn't even give his team 2 innings in his last start, I can't take anything you say seriously. This series is going to come down to offense IMO, and giving the Red Sox the nod at every position except 2B and SS is a little ridiculous. Based on this write-up, the Red Sox should have won 105 games, and be the prohibitive favorites to win the World Series. Again, it's baseball and literally anything can happen, but the Astros are (and should be) favored in this series by almost everyone. Obviously the games have to be played, and I'm not even going to try and delve into a prediction of my own, but the objective fact is that the Astros are statistically the better team.
If that was the case, it was sure nice of the White Sox vendors to supply the visiting Astros with Chandon. Even at home the Red Sox were only offered Korbel to celebrate.
I had recently watched the Mets 30 for 30 documentary, where they spend almost a full episode on game 6 of the WS (Boston) where the Red Sox were one out away from winning it all. The clubhouse attendants were interviewed and they were talking about how it was their responsibility to supply the champagne even if it was the visiting team that was going to win. They also had the visiting clubhouse all draped off for the celebrations and the trophy was there… and within 10 minutes, they had to take it all down and confiscate all the championship hats/shirts/etc. Pretty wild stuff. I’m sure the Astros and MMP had to do something very similar for the 2005 NLCS game 5 (Pujols game). Luckily the paraphernalia didn’t go to waste, and they ended up being the last team ever to celebrate at the old Busch stadium.
Yeah, they basically put no real effort in this. They basically made all their "coin flip" decisions based on who they felt was hotter in the ALDS and last week of the regular season. Because obviously everything that happens in one playoff series immediately carries over to the next playoff series.
Probably whoever wins the SF-LA will come out ahead as fav, we are just the current fav since we advance already
Knebel. Sounds like a mind tuck. The Dodgers are taking an extreme risk, but why, to get the Giants to change their lineup...or are they serious. They are sitting a 20 game winner in a game for all the marbles. Playing with fire.
