On the show, O'Grady can be a candidate for the bushy eyebrow thread. Spoiler: ogrady Spoiler: sweeney
Agreed. The way Mike White ended the series was a cop out. Like you built up everything in the first 5 episodes to let it end like...that? One of the most overrated series I've watched in recent memory.
ya ending wasnt what i was hoping for, but enjoyed it nonetheless. and yes with enough ketamine id probally eat his ass lol
I still have two episodes to go. I was hoping and expecting something along the lines of Knives Out, so I'm a little disappointed. But it's amusing.
The show would have been much better minus 2 specific scenes. They didn’t need to show any of it - we could have figured out what they were talking about/doing without seeing any of it ♀️
8/10. Ending was disappointing but it turned out as a show about the journey. I thought the acting was top notch and the odd music really added a layer of anxiety and suspense.
I'm torn on the ending. On one hand, realistically, there characters turned out exactly how they would in the real world... Spoiler sticking with their tribe. With the sole dissenter/bright spot bring the son. Even Armond being killed was the typical addict/alcoholic digging deeper and crossing that final line. I mean, I was kinda like The Wire. The way that Omar was killed, Marlo's future, etc. Both series, it was like a "...and the band plays on" kinda thing. On the other hand, I get the disappointment that there were no big splashes though the luggage scene was effing hysterical. They could have done more. Instead of a new series with different characters like they're planning, I'd kill for a series with Armond's backstory similar to Better Call Saul. The potential for a series like that would be gold. 8.5/10
I agree with how realistic the characters turned out and how Spoiler they ended up sticking with their tribe, reluctantly or not. Quinn and Armond escaping, but down very different paths.
I don't know how realistic it would be for a 16 year old minor to Spoiler make a successful escape go back to the resort, sync up with the rowers, and get that happy ending without his family/parents realizing their son is not on the plane and going back to the resort to drag him back on a plane heading home. That's the part, for me, where Mike White kind of mailed it in. Like the "rich white people" going back to their normal lives was expected but adding this in takes some of the reality out of the entire thing.
That's fair, but still felt pretty grounded to me with how the various characters decided to choose their ending.
Thoughts on Spoiler: a story beat in season 1 finale? The hotel manager taking a dump in the newlywed husband's suit case. The showed the act. I was chuckling; thinking to myself, that's got to be CG effect.
