Therefore, my playlists are also gone...all empty. I still have them on the iPod...any way to recover them? I'm an idiot!

(using Windows, not using the option "keep iTunes folder organized")

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do it without third-party software, but this is out there:

    Anapod Explorer

There is also something similar for Mac called iPod Rip.

The iPod rip is the greatest software ever. I got my new iMac and wanted to transfer all my music files from my PC to that (considering the iMac is used only for music, not a hard choice). Took about an hour to transfer it all, but well worth it.

Maybe you should stick to tapes or CDs SJC --- these hip new technologies can be tricky. :p

    4hrs?
I left mine on over the night and it was on 70% volume with EQ of Bass booster and shuffle on and it went on for 7 hours, no light on and contrast set to the normal for roomlight.

And the HD isnt that fragile, i walk around iwth it all the time even rode a bike with it on.
I have a 20Gig one, if that helps any, plus if anything get a Harddrive utility software and run it on the Ipod.
