Best way to promote a web site?

etc. By putting them at the bottom with text links, you ensure that search engines can spider through the pages. Some can have a difficult time reading image-based links.

Change the images of text to actual text. I know it is a pain, but you can get it to look right using CSS and, in the long run, it is just the best way to go. With no text on the pages, there is a good chance some of the search engines will simply ignore the entire site. Sometimes, when they don't see text content on the page, they assume there is nothing there an move on. You don't want that.

Just a public shout-out to Jeff, who has helped me quite a bit with this wort of thing as time has passed. Seriously, thanks -- my work site is typically the first on Google for our topic (though it just sank, mysteriously, to #9....).

You're very welcome. I'm glad you liked my site. I am about to complete another update for the NFL for this upcoming season, and some changes already made for the 2004-05 NBA season and the 2005 MLB season.

I also was at the Rome Tour Stop this past weekend, and I'll probably add those pics to my site too.

Rob, in your case, you've been there for quite some time and have developed quite a few recipricol links. As a result, your ranking has gone up in certain areas.

Of course, Google is tweaking their search algorithm all the time. They treat that thing like it is the codes to America's nuclear silos.

Interesting that META tags are losing their significance. Page titles, I can see getting more significance. I guess people better pay attention to those TITLE tags on their pages. I also didn't realize how much linking from other sites plays into the equation as well.
