January 6 is an excellent zombie movie. Evil dictator who creates zombies Slavering brainless hoards Inept military/police Impotent government officials hiding under desks Evil dictator escapes to costal fortress. Predictable lack of action after big battle leaves door open for sequel
I liked the original Night of the Living Dead. And Train to Busan. Shaun of the Dead probably third. And I liked Black Summer better than TWD, though must have been the only one since it only lasted a season.
Season 2 of Black Summer hits in a few weeks..... I love zombie movies since I was a kid, Romero's movies will always hold a special place for me. More recent stuff like 28 days Later and Dawn of The Dead Remake are excellent, IMO. Zombi, the unofficial Italian sequel for Romero's Dawn is actually pretty solid with a fantastic final shot and it's got this....
I've big fan of that series, it comes back on June 11th .... https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/netflix-black-summer-season-2.311686/
The genre has exceeded the low expectations people have for it. The video games have helped. Dawn of the Dead at the mall was my first and I liked. They are likely in need of leveling up at some point, but so far they still have momentum rolling in the right direction despite limited plots.
Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse Cooties Zombie Honeymoon The Faculty All worthy candidates. There was this one film where zombies would rise out of the water, go on the hunt, and return to the water. It's one of the earlier zombie films. I remember seeing that scene of them popping out of the water. It kind of freaked me out.
